If he were "all about football," he would not have a reality show. Neither is AJ Mccaron, neither was TO. We are talking about a 7th round draft pick that may not even make the team. If I could make millions playing football, I would put everything else on the back burner until I was assured of at least a spot on the team.

While I disagree that having cameras following him around automatically means he isn't focused on football, I will say that if I'm Fisher, I'm not happy about it as at the very least it will draw unwanted attention to the player and the team. What a player does off the field is not an indicator of how focused on football they are, how they handle it is.

Every player has distractions of the field, if they can't manage them, then they fail. Adrian Peterson kept playing hard through the death of his son for heavens sake, if he can do that you think another player can't deal with a camera crew for a few hours a day?

 

The fact that its pretty hard to put a definative answer on what being 100% focused on football means shows what an irrelevent term it is. If Michael Sam is doing all the things he is supposed to be doing with regards to practice and staying in shape, then he is doing his job. Justin Blackmon, while clearly having major issues, was just a passed drugs test away from being what any lay person would consider 100% focused on football. he would be practicing every day, working hard (so the coaches said) and playing football to a high level.

You can't have actual thoughts and feelings regarding actions of others? That's ludicrous. He said OMG, and Horrible. Not to mention the Horrible was in reply to a question posed by someone else.

 

Remember the CB from Seattle last year, Browner? The NFL slandered his name, and continued doing so. It went to court (may still be fighting it I am not sure). Did the NFL apologize or recant what they claimed? Nope, fight on in court baby. Now the shoe is on the other foot here and it is deemed wrong.

If Sam lets it distract him from football, then he isn't 100% focused on football and he is more likely to fail, just like the guy who is distracted with worry about his sick mother, or the guy distracted by his messy divorce, or the guy who is distracted by his addiction to pain killers.

 

If he doesn't let it distract him, he will be like 95% of the rest of the league who have busy, messy, complicated lives off the field and who get on with it.

I agree. Most teams have several of each. But those guys don't get a show dedicated to them. At the very least maybe some of of those overpaid morons have done something on the field to deserve some sort of one on one show about them.

A football show dedicated to one team who will occassionally shadow a specific player is much different than a player coming into the league who has done squat getting a show. That would cause a distraction in the locker room for sure. There have been off the record, published remarks already, and has been pointed out already as well, The Rams basically put the kibosh on it too.

 

Add in the fact that the team would get bombarded with questions when the show did start by media. You think they want to answer a multitude of questions each day on a player who has done nothing about his own show? There's a reason it got nixed.
