A guy I sat next to at the draft is pretty good friends with Alfie. About 15-20 minutes before it started, he leaned over to me and said "Alfie just texted me and said his sources are saying Sammy Watkins will be the pick." I wanted to bust out laughing but kept it to myself.

His sources included half the mock drafts on the planet.  It's a pretty exclusive list.

I wonder why Prisco even bothers and goes down to that level. Pete is a national NFL writer for one of the busiest sports websites in the country.

Pete and Alfie always went back and forth with each other.  For the most part, Alfie agreed with what he said....and if he didn't you could get a decent back and forth.

Pete is throwing a local guy a bone....dont blame him.

I'm just shocked Alfie hasn't unleashed his half dozen minions on twitter yet. He must've forgotten the passwords.

Quote:The site could be a great resource for Jaguars fans. Sometimes it is but usually it just operates as an opinion piece for Alfie and his friends. Hey, it's their site. They can do with it whatever they choose to. I am registered on that site and sometimes comment. I never say anything inflamatory. But when I have said anything disagreeing with their group-think, I get ganged up on like Kramer did when he didn't wear the ribbon. Does not make it an appealing place to go. Had the same experience on Twitter with that crew.

I found it very useful during free agency. If I'm looking for Jags news, it's a good site to check. It's Jags specific so you don't have to sift through 31 other teams' news. Jaguars.com waits for the official team release which can take hours (or even days) longer.

I don't know...  I can usually find all of the Jaguars news and information that I'm looking for on my own.  I'm not big on blogs, especially if the quality isn't there.  The writing isn't very good and it's almost like he tries to "mimic" what professional's write or say on the radio.  His columns have "wannabe" written all over them.

Also, you NEVER, NEVER, NEVER ban someone for having a dissenting opinion or giving criticism.

I just hope that he doesn't actually get paid to run the site or do what he's doing.  If he does and/or if he actually makes a living doing that it's kind of a "slap in the face" to professional sports journalists.  If it's just a "hobby" then it's all good.

His "sources"?  Really?  Of course these are all "un-named sources".  I'm sure that the next thing that he will say is his "sources" are "inside the Jagaurs' organization".

The guy is an amateur at best and a good fan.  I don't fault him for what he is doing, he's enthusiastic and doing what he can to promote the Jaguars.  However, if he doesn't change his ways and if he doesn't actually learn what it means to be a real journalist, his site will always be a "fanboy" site and never amount to much.

Lesson #1 that he needs to learn - never shut down free speech, especially if you don't agree with it.  Argue your point to prove it wrong, but NEVER ban someone just because they have an opposing point of view.

Lesson #2 - Take criticism and different opinions seriously.  You will never have 100% of any readers agree with you all of the time.  People either agree with your point of view or don't.  Just because they don't agree with you isn't a reason to ban them.  They probably have a valid point/argument that you probably need to consider.

Lesson #3 - Lose the "buzz words" and "buzz phrases" taken from other sports websites.  Be creative and come up with your own titles.  Be creative and come up with your own ideas.

All I know is that during the season when he does game write ups using animated gifs to illustrate his point, it's first rate stuff. His constant sniping and belittling in the comments section completely undermines all that good work.
