Even if he is healthy the rest of the season, his stock isn't getting any higher (or lower) than it is right now. He's probably just trying to stay healthy and get ready for the combine.Maybe so, but like you said, the latest news means he went from first pick lock this offseason to little chance. Things can change very quickly. Players act stupid, get into trouble, get hurt... any number of things can happen to change what may appear to be a "lock" and turn it on its head. If he was going to behave like this, he was better off quitting school and training.

Quote:see.....remember my "name" hypothesis...... Quote:To be fair, Bridgewater isn't a great name either. If Bridgewater was horrible he would be saying that name just doesn't sound like a superstar name. It always works like that. Quote:Trying to become the next Seattle is a complete waste of time. Trying to duplicate Schneider's countless correct personnel moves and finding all those diamonds in the rough is more than likely going to get Caldwell fired if results take too long to surface. No, it's not a "waste of time"... they take the correct approach. You build your roster through the draft and stay young. Russel Wilson was not "incorrectly scouted and valued." The value was exactly correct. You draft a guy as low as you can. The red flags were real, it's just that you never know if a player will be able to transcend those negative traits that don't seem favorable in NFL projection (such as being short... not having the strongest arm as in Joe Montana, etc., etc.) Just because a guy beats the odds and works out, doesn't mean the risk was never there in drafting him (as you're suggesting from the "incorrect evaluation" comment.) When you see guys beat the odds and become someone who many may have thought possible but not probable, then you gained the reward from taking that risk. Careful with falling in love with the new consensus number one pick, he could fall from grace just as easily as the previous consensus number one pick. The thing about finding "the guy", even if you really do... the search isn't over. You're always looking for the next "guy" even if he's already on your roster. If you aren't, then you won't be ready when it's time to find him... and it's no telling how long it will be again before you do again. We know all too well about that.

Quote:To be fair, Bridgewater isn't a great name either. You don't think so? Actually, I think "Teddy Bridgewater" actually does have the "star player" vibe to it.
Quote:Unless we were trading for Tom Brady, that was happening either way.there was a chance heading into the season :whistling:

You think us picking Clowney is dependent on how well he does. Sorry but no. It's dependent on how we have no NFL caliber QB on the roster.

I was all for drafting Clowney. I still think it will be extremely hard for any team to pass him up.
But after being stuck with Gabbert and Henne, I am now convinced that QB has to be the pick. The right QB.
Quote: If Bridgewater was horrible he would be saying that name just doesn't sound like a superstar name. It always works like that. Yup. That is why we made him list this years rookies that had "star player names" and this years rookies that had non-star player names. Somebody needs to go back and find that thread from the old forum.

Quote:are we banned from drafting qbs in the 2nd round or something? isnt that where your boy geno was drafted? :whistling: Caldwell was asked in an interview if the future draft prospects at QB weighed in their decision to pass on a QB this year. He said "absolutely". Clearly Teddy was one of those people. You don't pass on drafting a QB to gamble on a second round one the following year.

Quote:i wouldnt put much stock on his interviews after trading away monroe. didnt he say monroe was part of the future? I'd say that is a completely different situation than talking about GM philosophy. Either way I will be here in April. Feel free to stick around to find out what the pick ends up being.
