Reality check...

Denver enjoyed the biggest point spread in NFL history when they faced off against the Jags last year. While they won the game, it certainly didn't pan out the way the odds makers had predicted.
Any given Sunday. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Denver enjoyed the biggest point spread in NFL history when they faced off against the Jags last year. While they won the game, it certainly didn't pan out the way the odds makers had predicted. Because only winning by 20 means the Broncos weren't in control over the entire game. Sure there is no such thing as a gimme, but when a team like the Broncos plays 10 games against teams of the Jaguars caliber from 2013 they expect to win at least 9 of them, and it's not unlikely they'd win all 10 with none of them being any closer than that 20 point squeaker from last season. If the Jaguars ever get to be on the Broncos/Seahawks 2013 level again we'll see a lot of games as gimmes. Quote:We're probably going 5-11 or 6-10 this season. I'm so tired of seasons with 5 wins or less. I feel like somehow demanding at least 6 wins. The optimist in me is hoping for 8 wins so they can finally avoid another losing season. I'd be shocked to see 9 or more wins though.

Quote:Because only winning by 20 means the Broncos weren't in control over the entire game.Folks such as yourself love to downplay just how close that game was regardless of the final score. It's a good thing those in the national media actually took note. The Jags laid out the blueprint for how to beat Denver. Seattle certainly was paying attention. In the end, the Jags simply didn't have enough talent to close the game out, but the score really didn't reflect what transpired on the field. That game, more than any of the wins the team had last year, actually set the tone for the optimism most feel for the future of this team. It showed the team hadn't quit on their coach, and that they actually did take pride in what they were trying to accomplish on the field. Others took note. It's a shame some fans didn't. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The Jags laid out the blueprint for how to beat Denver. Seattle certainly was paying attention. And that blueprint was to have the Broncos fumble inside the 10 yard line on their way to a score? I wouldn't be surprised if the Broncos spent no time at all gameplanning for the Jaguars and were instead focused on the next opponent. The seahawks didn't do anything different than they always do in the Superbowl, if you really think they needed the Jaguars getting handled to show them something maybe you'd like to buy some beachfront property in Montana. Quote:And that blueprint was to have the Broncos fumble inside the 10 yard line on their way to a score? Downplay it as you see fit. Like I said, others saw it very differently, and I'm not talking about Jag fans. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Downplay it as you see fit. Like I said, others saw it very differently, and I'm not talking about Jag fans. Could you go ahead and link me to any reputable site that said the Seahawks followed the Jaguars blueprint en route to dominating the Broncos? Just one would be fine. Quote:Could you go ahead and link me to any reputable site that said the Seahawks followed the Jaguars blueprint en route to dominating the Broncos? I wish I could provide you with an article from a "reputable site." Unfortunately, it was a conversation that was had on one of the national broadcasts last year. It was also mentioned by Chris Berman during an interview with 1010XL during the Coughlin Jay Fund golf tournament. I'm sure you can find that interview in the 1010XL archives if you're industrious enough. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If you're not interested in proving that it wasn't just your imagination then that's okay, but don't try to pin the responsibility for verifying your assertions on me.

What I remember most about that game was the dread I felt going into it, and the massive relief when we didn't lose by historic proportions. Quote:No, you made the assertion, if you really want to be taken seriously you need to find the interview. Oh no! My credibility might be called into question on an interwebs message baord! What ever shall I do!?! I think my credibility will survive this just fine without having to lift a finger. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:What I remember most about that game was the dread I felt going into it, and the massive relief when we didn't lose by historic proportions. I can relate to this. I actually started conning myself into thinking...."maybe...." by the early 3rd Q....and then, back to reality shortly afterwards..
Quote:Oh no! My credibility might be called into question on an interwebs message baord! What ever shall I do!?! Your credibility with me is what I'm talking about. I expect people that already decided they like you will continue to do so, and people that already decided they don't like you will continue to do so as well. Sycophancy and antagonism aren't anything unusual. Like I said, if you're just not interested in intrinsic credibility then that's fine, but don't act like it's my responsibility to work toward your credibility.
I hope for the best but i still think we hit about the 6 win mark. I think we are still so young and that Oline needs to gel for much of anything to happen.
Quote:The Chiefs in my opinion had more talent (not much more) than the Jaguars when Andy Ried took them over, but both teams were dead last before the start of last years season. The difference is Andy Ried is a seasoned great Head Coach in the NFL while Gus had just gotten promoted to HC for the first time. Andy is going to have tricks and talent that Gus hasnt learned yet in regards to dealing with players, media, owners, GMs, opposing teams, etc.not mu h more talent ? Didnt the chiefs have like 8 pro bowlers on there defense? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

The true reality check.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Quote:Downplay it as you see fit. Like I said, others saw it very differently, and I'm not talking about Jag fans.that game did appear to shift the atmosphere around here. I think even John O wrote about how hard we fought and the good feeling we had for the future after that game. |
