QB Nick Foles

Quote:In what world is Nick Foles a statue? He had 221 rushing yards in 11 regular season starts last season. He is far from a dual threat QB, but he isn't a statue. Regardless being able to make pre-snap reads, quick decisions, and throwing with accuracy are much more important in a zone-read offense than being a running QB.

Kelly prefers mobile QB, who also possess the other skills as well.

Kelly will obviously stick with Foles in the short term, but as soon as a legit opportunity arises to get "his" QB, Foles is history. They'll probably get some sucker to give 'em a nice return in a trade, too, as people will be fooled by the inflated numbers. (AJ Feely deal)  I always thought Reid was a master at that....Kelly might prove to be even better.

A mobile QB that possesses Foles' ability to manipulate defenses, read schemes, make quick decisions, and throw accurately would be a top 5 QB in the league. Way to go out on a limb there.... "if a top 5 QB falls into the Eagles lap, Foles will be gone!".

Want me to dig up posts where you say any QB in the league could duplicate Foles numbers in Kelly's offense (even Cousins)?? That would included guys like Henne, Gabbert, Schaub, etc.    Might have been one of your dumbest takes I've read.

It was a bit of hyperbole...but I still think what you're seeing from Foles is inflated from Kelly's offense.

Put Foles on just about any other NFL team and he's an average QB.

If Foles were in this years NFL draft, knowing what we know now, I think he goes top 10.

I wonder where Garrard would have been drafted using the same thought process in the year following 2007...

Quote:Vick didn't struggle. He got hurt. He was fine in the limited action he saw. Barkley struggled with the sore shoulder all year.
You must've watched a different Vick than I did.

You must've watched a different Vick than I did.

His first 2 games he was playing very well, including over 425 yards vs. San Diego. No INT's either game, and 4 TD.

How's that level of play not at least "fine" ?

IIRC, he suffered some sort of injury in the San Diego game, and after that, he wasn't as effective, and Foles started by week 5 or 6.

So foles was a product of chip kellys system and youre saying that garrard was a product of the great jack del rios system?
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

You do not recall correctly. Vick's first injury (foot) came on his final play from scrimmage in the Chiefs game (49.4 QB rating). He was practicing by Tuesday and played without complications in week 4 against the Giants (69.0 QB rating). In Week 5 is when he injured his hamstring and when the Nick Foles show began. The irony is that both of Vick's injuries happened because he was rushing so much.

Foles > Vick.

No..., thats you saying that.

I'm saying that Garrard had an outlier season and would have been "drafted" very high if you went by that one year. (as the top 10 comparison was making with Foles, and his 2013 year.

Foles > Vick.

I'm not arguing that Vick is better than Foles. I've never been much of a Vick fan.

My argument is that Kelly's offense is the root of the QB numbers, not Foles.

So you cherry pick the San Diego game and ignore the rest of the season. ESPECIALLY the next two games. OK. I understand how this works now.

Quote:Losing DeSean Jackson will hurt Foles a little, but I think they more than made up for it by signing Sproles and drafting a couple of good WR's.

I usually draft a QB in the late 1st round or early 2nd, depending on when I pick.  Drafted Manning last year in the middle 2nd and won it all.

When the dust settles, how high do you guys think Foles will be in the fantasy rankings for QB's?

I'm thinking 4th behind only Manning, Brees and Rodgers.
Foles to me seems like a risky gamble, because he didnt even start for the Eagles last season & when he did many thought he wouldnt last more than a game.  He shocked everyone but like you said he lost a huge weapon with Jackson going to the Eagles.  I mean he has an offensive genius HC so I'm sure he's worthy of a 1st round pick in the Fantasy draft but if you have someone like Peyton Manning, among other proven reliable high scorers it'll be hard to reach for him that high (unless your die hard Eagles fan).

I listed the first 2 games, not just the San Diego game...

The point is/ was not that Vick is some great QB, but that Kelly's offense is the generator.

I've already said that I remember some sort of injury occuring later in the San Diego game for Vick and that his passing numbers the next 2 contests wasn't nearly as good as the first 2. Then he was finally knocked out with more injuries by week 5. Foles stepped in and the rest was pretty much history.
