Will Spurrier be the next Carroll?

Spurrier recently said he plans to stay in Columbia when it's time to hang em up.  The University has let him know when that time comes, he can still be part of the university as some sort of ambassador for USC.

He says that, but I'm betting a majority of his time winds up being spent in Crescent Beach.

Good Lord, this thread is still going??...

I'd have figured this thread pretty much could have ended after a response or 2 of pretty certain "no".

Do I need to talk to him to know he's not a dummy?

Ha, no. I didn't think that's what you were referring to. My B, as they say.

I'm not sure I'd want to be on either side of this debate.

Quote:Naw. If he were 10 years younger I could see it though. Why ruin a cake job now? He'll be able to retire at SC when its all said and done.

While Florida fans kick themselves in the face.

When Steve does retire, he will move back to Florida I'm sure.

I seriously doubt that will happen.

And no, after 2 NCAA National Championships later, my face is not kicked in.

Kinda walked into that one, TMD.

On topic:  The same folks that say Spurrier would fail again as an NFL HC are the same people that said Carroll would fail.  One of the clowns on ESPN radio made it his mantra for years.

But yeah, not gonna happen for many of the reasons stated, most important that he's just too old.

You can compare apples to oranges, that's fine.  Just don't expect anyone with a lick of sense to follow you down that rabbit hole.

I can't see that.

Spurrier is more gamecock than gator at this point.

The person I responded to was pure SEC homer.  View his "content."  It won't take long.

he made some bad choices in his stint with the redskins. I still think he's a hell of a coach. At this point in time he's a little too old and a little too set in his ways to succeed in the NFL, even if he wanted to.

he's done some record breaking things in south Carolina. As a Florida fan I appreciate him to this day, I still root for the gators if they play sc, but I like seeing spurrier win. You can tell how much he loves it every time. The passion of the game is lost on a lot of people, never spurrier.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
