Clowney vs Bridgewater

Quote:still waiting for those links comparing teddy to luck/manning tbh  :whistling:

I have no idea what you are talking about. They are very different players. No one was comparing their actual play, they were mentioning how they compare as NFL draft prospects. Meaning mechanics/NFL readiness.

Luck's college stat line year by year is comparable to Bridgewater's in one article I came across. But those are the only real comparisons.

i also meant prospect wise because i see a lot of "the next best prospect since luck/peyton" comparisons here. but the thing is ive mostly seen that here.

Louisville’s offense also calls its plays at the line of scrimmage, yet Bridgewater rarely — if ever — has the Cardinals in the same play twice in a row. It’s a skill that confounds college defenses and wows NFL draft graders.

“That’s Drew Brees stuff,” Temple defensive coordinator Phil Snow, who has NFL coaching experience, told reporters last week. “That’s Peyton Manning.”

Yeah a few posters mention that trait and thats really promising, but collectively to say hes the next "best prospect since luck/peyton" is really overrating him on this board.

You must not spend time on a lot of football message boards. Because it's not just this place that thinks hes amazing.

I hate myself for taking the bait because you've also admitted you've only watched highlights of Bridgewater, but this literally took me all of four seconds while eating some sour patch kids at work:

"As an athlete, Bridgewater is more similar to Andrew Luck rather than Robert Griffin III or Cam Newton. Bridgewater has good mobility and can pick up yards on the ground, but he looks more natural as a pocket passer. "

"Scouts are salivating about Bridgewater's potential as a franchise-caliber quarterback at the next level."

In this age, I must clarify that you should please not take "Teddy Bridgewater is a professional quarterback" as some sort of proclamation on my part that Bridgewater has violated the spirit of amateurism, or some other phrase that the NCAA would probably say. What it means is that Andrew Luck is the only quarterback in recent history who has looked more like a professional quarterback at the college level than Bridgewater, who is playing a different game than most college defenders and opposing QBs. He has two years of eligibility left, but it's a foregone conclusion that he'll go pro, as he should.

But you can continue to talk about other QB's.  Especially in threads about Bridgewater specifically, or gameday threads for games that include Bridgewater but not the QB you are talking about

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It just seems too good to be true...

The Jags are probably going to screw this up somehow....

probably win a few meaningless games during the 2nd half to put us out of the #1 overall pick

why?

#becausejaguars

thats why.

After all our suffering as fans, I think we're owed Bridgewater to the Jags!!! Don't ruin this for us!!!!

Bridgewater would be smart to do what Clowney is doing. Sand bag his [BLEEP] off.

Bridgewater wants to be the number one pick.  That tells you a lot about his dedicate to football imo.

Aren't you a ray of sunshine and hope...

Is anyone other then pirk still on the Clowney bandwagon?

Honestly, I don't know enough about Bridgewater other then what is being constantly said about him.  I've watched some highlights, I've read articles and others opinions on him.  How much of it is regurgitated because someone else said it?  Probably a lot.  The only thing I have heard people criticize is his opponents.

Anyways, my point is I don't know enough to say he is who we should take.  But everything I have heard from him calling plays, understanding defenses and just being ahead of everyone else on the field leads me to believe he is a legitimate #1 QB prospect.

Pay attention much?  His antics have put the final nail in his coffin.

He went from clear #1 to question mark in less than a season.

Like I said, this stuff happens.  It's why you never say never.

Well, it is 26 pages in.  I apologize for taking your time and asking you a question to which I did not know the answer to.  I do have a job and cannot spend all of my time on here.

And yes, in a recent post on NFL, you mentioned something about taking a QB at #33 which to me implied you were still wanting Clowney at #1.

Well, after your many, many posts criticizing Bridgewater supporters and praising Clowney, I thought you were all in!

Link to my criticizing the supporters?  I've always debated the thought process and logic behind it.

As I said from the very beginning... if nothing had changed between the two, Clowney would have been the logical #1 pick if he would have been rated significantly higher (which was expected at the time.)

Guess what?  Things changed, just as I suggested from the beginning that they could.  It's never been a petty internet "bet" for me, as it is for far too many of the immature on this board.  It's a discussion.

Why is it when I try my best to be civil with your kind, I always end up regretting doing so... as if I've wandered over to the children's table and expected intelligent conversation instead of a spitball fight?

It helps to actually read what someone is posting before responding.
