Chris Johnson Flapping Jaw Again
|
Quote:This is exactly why Johnson has sucked ever since that 2000 yard season. He will continue to only look for the home run play each carry instead of doing his job and letting the big play happen organically.Yep, putting up 4 consecutive 1000 yard season after that 2k season. What a horrible running back, guy sucks. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Yep, putting up 4 consecutive 1000 yard season after that 2k season. I am thinking 1200 might be closer to reality. He had one great season where Fisher practically ran him into the ground. He hasn't looked like that guy since before he got the big contract he never lived up to.
Only a chump boos the home team!
Quote:He has a right to flap his jaw. He has reached 2,000 yards in one season. That's not something many can do. I agree completely. A fan in a bar or on a message board can chime in on any topic and it's his right as a fan. A media hack can spout nonsense about anything, and that is him being objective. A coach can say something and he's sharing his insight with the public. But the guys having the most bearing on what happens during the football season, the guys putting their bodies on the line are supposed to " just shut up and play." It makes zero sense at all. Know who else used to talk about rushing for 2000 in a season? Fred Taylor. Unlike Chris Johnson, however, he never reached that mark. But even though he is one of a handful of men in NFL history to actually do it, Johnson has to shut up and play. Despite having salaries that likely dwarfs everyone posting on these message boards, players are still viewed as public chattel. Players are public figures not public property. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Quote:Yep, putting up 4 consecutive 1000 yard season after that 2k season. What a horrible running back, guy sucks. 1000 yards a season isn't what it used to be. His per game stats below following that 2k yard season shows that. 85.2 65.4 77.7 67.3 Chris Johnson is ok, but he's an all or nothing back. He is always looking for the big play, not to sustain drives. There is definitely a good and bad to that. The Jaguars have pretty much bottled him up in recent memory. Edit: Wait, am I allowed to say this since I'm just a fan and he makes more money than me?

A fan's right to speak has never been challenged and has always remained virtually unfettered. But the fact you are now rhetorically wonder whether you now have the right to speak now that someone acknowledges the player's right to speak quite frankly speaks to a sense of entitlement/superiority. I could see mocking him for his declining performance. At least one of the analysts derisively calls him "CJ1K." I could see wanting him to shut up if he talked badly about other teams. But unless I have missed something, he hasn't said anything like all of the defenses on our schedule play like panzies...yada yada yada. As I understand it, he is expressing confidence in himself and his team to make it happen. But "shut up and play?" Really? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
He would be a lot more productive if he didn't have 800 pounds of golden chicklets rattling around that empty dome of his.

Well, if you've ever heard him speak, he needs something to fill up the space there. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote: Where did anybody even say this? I've gone through the pages of this thread and didn't see it anywhere. The closest was TMD telling Johnson to "shut the hell up" but that's to be expected. It was Tommy who mentioned that he hates when people say players "should shut their mouths" or "just play." But using Tommy's logic the players are celebrities who can basically say whatever they want and because we the fans are not celebrities we just need to "get in line." Which says something about him but that's for another day. I get what you are saying however, I don't expect players to shut their mouths and play. I have no problem with guys being confident in themselves and expressing that to the public. I also don't think Johnson is anywhere near the player he was when he rushed for 2k yards.

the NFL is a job like any other, except tons of people are watching. I work in sales right now. This is no different than if reasonable sales goals for me based on my last 4 years of work put me right around 85,000 a year with all of my commission included. I say to everyone, I'm gonna do 150k this year. It's just unrealistic. Even if Chris Johnson himself called me uo and said "shut up and lets see it." I wouldn't be mad.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
He has every right to say what he likes.
Everyone has the right to say he is talking poop. Talking poop is bad. Therefore Chris Johnson should probably shut up Quote:Just to be different, Bortles. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
