COLLEGE PRODUCTION ONLY --- My top 5 in no particular order are USC, Oklahoma, Pitt, Texas, and the U.
Regarding RB-U .... you can't throw history ... the teams above trump Wisconsin by a mile. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Which is exactly what my point was. Regarding #1 above. That is because their roided up offensive line is opening holes I could run through.
College production only? Then how can you put anyone over Wisconsin? You might want to take a look at the first few pages of the thread.
Quote:COLLEGE PRODUCTION ONLY --- My top 5 in no particular order are USC, Oklahoma, Pitt, Texas, and the U. In the past 20 years, top 5 running backs ran for: Wisconsin: Ron Dayne 6,397 yards 63 TDs Montee Ball 5,117 yards 77 TDs Anthony Davis 4,676 yards 42 TDs P.J. Hill 3,942 yards 42 TDs John Clay 3,397 yards 41 TDs Texas: Ricky Williams 6,279 yards 72 TDs Cedric Benson 5,540 yards 64 TDs Jamaal Charles 3,328 yards 36 TDs Hodges Mitchell 2,572 yards 19 TDs Shon Mitchell 1,725 yards 14 TDs Miami: Edgerrin James 2,960 yards 32 TDs James Jackson 2,950 yards 31 TDs Clinton Portis 2,523 yards 20 TDs Graig Cooper 2,374 yards 13 TDs Willis McGahee 2,067 yards 31 TDs (over Javaris James because of the touchdown difference) USC Charles White 6,245 yards 49 TDs vs Ron Dayne 6,397 yards 63 TDs Marcus Allen 4,810 yards 45 TDs vs Montee Ball 5,117 yards 77 TDs Anthony Davis 3,724 yards 44 TDs vs Anthony Davis 4,676 yards 42 TDs Ricky Bell 3,689 yards 28 TDs vs P.J. Hill 3,942 yards 42 TDs Reggie Bush 3,169 yards 25 TDs vs Billy Marek 3,703 yards 44 TDs Total yards: Texas: 19,444 Miami: 12,874 Wisconsin: 23,529 USC: 21,637 Total TDs: Texas: 205 Miami: 127 Wisconsin: 265 USC: 191 Wisconsin's top 5 RBs have put up more yards and a lot more TDs than any top 5 from any school. If you extend past top 5, it helps Wisconsin's case even more. Like I said, Wisconsin has had 21 1,000 rushers in the past 21 seasons. USC has had 7 in that same time span. That is very telling. Based on college production, Wisconsin RBs have outperformed any other school for the past 5... 10... 15... 20 years.
Quote:In the past 20 years, top 5 running backs ran for: Apparently you overlooked my statement <strong>YOU CAN'T THROW AWAY HISTORY --- why 20 years? Quote:In the past 20 years, top 5 running backs ran for: You also discount the fact that players like Reggie Bush left early and shared the backfield with Lendale White who ran for 3,159 yards. Heck, we could say Georgia basketball players are better then Kentucky's because their players have more points when leaving college.
Quote:You also discount the fact that players like Reggie Bush left early and shared the backfield with Lendale White who ran for 3,159 yards. Are you kidding me? Wisconsin running backs have that problem (of having to share the backfield) more than anybody. 2010: John Clay 1,012 yards James White 996 yads Montee Ball 1,052 yards 2014: Melvin Gordon 1,609 yards James White 1,444 yards etc. etc. etc.
NFL.com's Bryan Fischer did a "which school is RB U?" article. Note that it is more focused on which team produced the most/best NFL Running Back, but I thought it was an interesting read.
<p style="margin-left:40px;">"...College Football 24/7 took a look at college football programs and took into account their history of producing NFL backs (including fullbacks) over the past 25 years, the quality of backs they've produced, and even considered the future a bit to see what kind of pipeline there is for the school at the position ..."
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I'm not sure how much more ignorant you can get, considering some of the elite seasons Wisconsin RBs have had. Ron Dayne (1996) 2,109 yards rushing 21 TDs Montee Ball (2011) 1,923 yards rushing 33 TDs Ron Dayne (1999) 2,034 yards rushing 20 TDs Montee Ball (2012) 1,830 yards rushing 22 TDs Heck, Hurricane, you named Mike Garrett as a top 5 USC back of all time. His career best in rushing yards was 1,440. Since 1993, here is the list of Wisconsin RBs with 1,440+ rushing yards: James White (2013) 1,444 Melvin Gordon (2013) 1,609 Montee Ball (2012) 1,830 Montee Ball (2011) 1,923 John Clay (2009) 1,517 P.J. Hill (2006) 1,569 Brian Calhoun (2005) 1,636 Anthony Davis (2002) 1,555 Anthony Davis (2001) 1,466 Michael Bennett (2000) 1,598 Ron Dayne (1999) 2,034 Ron Dayne (1998) 1,525 Ron Dayne (1997) 1,457 Ron Dayne (1996) 2,109 Terrell Fletcher (1994) 1,476 Brent Moss (1993) 1,637 In 20 seasons, Wisconsin has had 16 RBs top Garrett's career high in yards including two in the same season. Quote:NFL.com's Bryan Fischer did a "which school is RB U?" article. Note that it is more focused on which team produced the most/best NFL Running Back, but I thought it was an interesting read. That's not what my thread is pointing out, though. I mislabeled it as "Running Back U" and have conceded that. My point all along was that Wisconsin Running Backs put up ridiculous numbers year in and year out but seldom pan out as NFL players. Running Backs shine at the university (what I meant by Running Back U), but fizzle out in the league. No school has had more college success rushing the ball than Wisconsin. Most of the schools being listed as better don't have 20 All Time 1,000 yard rushers. Wisconsin has 21 in the past 21 seasons. That is mind boggling.
Quote:Are you kidding me? Wisconsin running backs have that problem (of having to share the backfield) more than anybody. Let me know what Wisconsin did between 1970 and 1990.
Quote: Dude, I listed the USC Heisman RBs. Didn't realize you would miss the common factor of the 5 USC RBs even though I listed "Heisman" next to each of their names.
Hurricane!!!,
The premise of my thread was to discuss (or point out) how Wisconsin RBs have been putting up ridiculous numbers in college and then fizzling out in the NFL. I don't find it necessary to go back 40 years to discuss that and think that the past 10-20 years provides an adequate timeframe. Anyways, Wisconsin's top 5 RBs have put up better numbers than any other schools top 5 RBs from any time period. The further you expand list, ie. top 10 RBs, the more the pendulum swings in favor of Wisconsin. How many other schools can say they've had 20+ 1,000 yard rushers? I'll wait.
