Quote:I do have to wonder though, why you came into this thread in the first place. Maybe you're a little wrapped up in the lives of the rich and famous just like everyone else in this thread...

I'm touched that you are concerned about me.

My hope for these threads is that they'll be real discussions by adults. And yes, humor is allowed. Many (perhaps most) are good comments and thoughts about football and all kinds of other things.

I chose to voice my displeasure, if it's ok with you, when people get all bent out of shape about someone who has performed tremendous service for the Jaguars, who responds to media questioning. Some people get so personally offended by things said and done by sports figures. It's silly and childish.

If you like silly and childish, or don't care either way, feel free to not respond. It seems that you always want to keep things very, very light and make sure you don't offend anyone. If that works for you, great. For me, I think some people ought to grow up.

Tremendous service? Don't you think that's laying it on a bit strong? He wasn't doing something out of the kindness of his heart you know. The Jags paid him to perform a job for their team...he wasn't off feeding the starving children in Calcutta, or defending the honor of our country, risking life and limb to do so.

Quote:I don't understand why fans want to kick players in the butt when they are out the door.  Is any of this information surprising?  His behavior hasn't changed since college.  I enjoyed watching him play on our awful teams.  He was our only offense for so many games.

Wait, there were a lot of people kicking MJD while he was still here, and you can count me as one of them.  Lets not all act like his last three years here were all flowers and rainbows.  The guy held out, got into fights at random bars, barely played and if he did it was a shell of his former self.

Who can deny that he always had a reason to be mad about somebody?  At first it was fine, he needs someone to motivate him and we were ok with that.....the dudes 30, time to motivate yourself.

Please don't tell me you expected him to rush for 1200 yards while playing with a serious foot injury that ended his season, plus nagging ankle and hamstring injuries the following season, while playing on a offense that put up historically low PPG and allowed a franchise record sacks, and QB hurries.

Pretty much.

Plus, he's already admitted to showing up fat and out of shape the offseason he spent bar fighting.

So really, it's sad the excuses made for him.  It is what it is, and it didn't end pretty.  Some can't accept that, I suppose.

please don't tell me you think we where anything but fair with MJD the entire time he was here. I don't care what the excuse is he had a drop off in production, thus him no longer a Jaguar.

Everyone seems to get this expect MJD and his fan boys.

It dosent matter whether I think the team treated him fairly or not, that is a feeling both the team and MJD are entitled to feel.

The reality (and fact) is he suffered a serious injury that ended his season and wasnt fully healthy last season which is what caused the drop off in production, along with a historically bad offense

If you hate him personally for whatever reason, then just admit it instead of slinging elementary comments.

If he says he likes Cali weather better than Florida weather whats next?

I didn't even know about the weather comment (sharpening pitchfork).

Where have I said I hate him? I find you fan boys that can see no fault in him funny, but that's a far cry from hating him. Like I said to start with MJD has always needed to fabricate a chip for him to carry, it's his thing and I personally find it tacky.

For the record (as I stated before on here), I was disappointed MJD held out being this is a team sport, but I understand him wanting more money, and fully understood he had that right and never took him holding out personally.

Its your right to find whatever he uses for motivation as "tacky", but its his motivation and it has created such a rage and hatred inside of you that its to the point of something you cant change about MJD. So whenever he speaks (it can be something minuscule like frogs, rabbits, and roaches) he stirs up an emotion in you that cant be let go because of something that has happened years ago.

As much as I dont like Gabbert (as a player) I never take it to a personal level to where I slam his personal characteristics and make it totally personal. I leave it at the football aspect and move on.

That's exactly what this is about. MJD doesn't whine, complain or say he is using the incident as motivation in that article. He just told a story about his number. I guess they want a canned response, or a lie.

Every Jaguar fan loved that chip on his shoulder when he was on "their" team.

Oh yes. I wish we still had an aging RB who looks like he wears concrete shoes on the roster.

Please don't speak for every fan. Not all of us loved that chip...I for one didn't. A chip on your shoulder to me is just an excuse for a pity party...whether you are a professional athlete or a street sweeper.

I get that chip and why some people need it, but I don't think it's all that healthy to have. Definitely not the way I would be, but to each their own I guess.

I think I've said it before, but I think of former players the same way I view my ex girlfriends; they're just no longer in my life and the things they say are on them and not on me.

I've moved on, have they?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Just simply not true, plenty of people didn't appreciate the need to always fabricate me against the world attitude.
