Maybe there are fans that need an issue to fire them up about their too. So what?

 

It is the dead zone, so there's probably a lot of truth to that statement. 

 

Im betting his holdout from 3 years ago has plenty to do with the sentiment towards him.

No doubt, there are still people who hold a lot of resentment for that maneuver.  It didn't help matters that when he did return, he suddenly became the oft injured MJD, or that his production started to fall off. 

 

The guy carried this team through some dark years.  He was one of the few bright spots during a stretch of incompetence.  This is a guy who needs to have something to motivate him.  It may be annoying to Jag fans, but it is what it is. 

 

As I said earlier in this thread, who cares?  He's no longer a Jag.  I don't really care that he's answering questions that don't make Jag fans feel good.  It's irrelevant.

 Please don't tell me you expected him to rush for 1200 yards while playing with a serious foot injury that ended his season, plus nagging ankle and hamstring injuries the following season, while playing on a offense that put up historically low PPG and allowed a franchise record sacks, and QB hurries.

That's exactly what this is about. MJD doesn't whine, complain or say he is using the incident as motivation in that article. He just told a story about his number. I guess they want a canned response, or a lie.

When you can prove that the chip is legit, and you can play at a level to disprove the doubters, then it's fun to watch.

By that time the "chip on his shoulder" was legend, but I don't recall MJD talking about it much after his first two years, and then only when asked. It's not like he went around talking about it incessantly, that was the fans continually bringing it up.

Just simply not true, plenty of people didn't appreciate the need to always fabricate me against the world attitude.

I understand the passion and invested interest fans have in some players. If you was genuinely hurt as a fan by his actions, then just be an adult and admit it. Hiding behind your criticism of the "chip on his should thing" makes your dislike for someone personally very juvenile.
 
If the shoe was on the other foot and someone held a disdain for you based on how you motivated yourself, would you view that person's dislike as elementary?
 
Hell MJD changed his last name to Jones-Drew in honor of his grandfather, do you think that was "fabricated chip on his shoulder" to play well?

MJD knew when to speak on it while he was performing well, and at other times, he would stay quiet about the chip thing when he was not playing well, or injured.

 

Some around here act as though he persistently kept talking about it, when it was the media who kept pushing that angle.

I don't understand why fans want to kick players in the butt when they are out the door.  Is any of this information surprising?  His behavior hasn't changed since college.  I enjoyed watching him play on our awful teams.  He was our only offense for so many games.
