Don't you see the irony of you making fun of a tarped stadium when your city in fact LOST an NFL Franchise? Sometimes it is just best to sit quiet in the shadows on certain topics.

Homie that is possibly the single most accurate description of a troll I've seen. Well done.

This is one of the better things I've read on this message board and this should be said any time a Texan fan wants to bring up tarps or attendance.

The Astrodome used to be next to empty when they picked up and left...can't blame them.

No,not lost. Run out of town. Before ol bud kicked the bucket he said it was the stupidest move he ever made when he tried to force the city to build him a new stadium.

And even if you're not a Texan fan who would you rather have? The Titans or the Texans?

Oh I get it. So I'm a jaguars fan but I should hope they move and then we get a team more like the seahawks or at least a cooler logo than the oilers. OK. I got it. I'm sorry, I'm still learning what it's like to be a real fan.

I doubt my opinion counts for much on a Jaguars message board, but here it is.

The Oilers sucked then, and suck even more now as Titans. As a kid growing up in Texas, I always rooted against the cities of Houston and Dallas. I was a Pats fan (when they also sucked for so many years). When The Jaguars and Panthers came out, the Panthers won me over. When the Oilers moved to Tennessee, I celebrated their departure. And when Houston got a brand new team with 0 history I could jump on board with, I did it, completely.

I am very happy with this franchise and have been since their creation.

All that being said, Houston doesn't really have any more of a problem then 31 other teams in the NFL. And that is balancing salaries with talent under the direction of a winning coaching staff. Some team made it to the big dance, others have not. Sooner or later Houston will make it there as well, hopefully in my lifetime. Until then I will root them on.

....unless the Texans suck too much, get moved, and then you get a new franchise. OK got it.

Fair enough, but there are a handful of cities more likely to lose their football team next than Houston.

I think the critical point here, BattleRed, (really respect your posting by the way, very articulate) is that you seem to have wanted a better team while the oilers were there. We want our team to get better. Its a subtle difference but one that has far reaching implications.

Well, I had a Marine Corps. upbringing as a kid and never spent more than a year or two in one place, so I never really had a "hometown" team to root for. After settling into the Houston area, I didn't feel any allegiance to the city or it's teams. However, with the new franchise, I found my "in" and am happy with them.

And I agree...we all want to root on a winner. I joined this forum because the Jags are the only other team in the AFCS that have respect for.
