What I like about Blackmon is that he plays no different than he did in college. He still plays like a man among boys.

 

He is so much more physical than the DBs. He snatches balls out of their hands and shoves them around like he is the playground bully.

 

I think he will end up being known as the toughest receiver in the NFL.

 

 

Both of our young receivers have proven themselves to be gamebreakers at the NFL level and this is only the beginning of their second year of playing together. It will be interesting to see if they can create some synergy.

I remember actually arguing with a few people in the trade Cecil thread who were saying that Cecil was better than Blackmon, and they were actually being indignant about it, rofl....

 

If you can't see that Blackmon is clearly, easily the better WR of the 2, and is a flat out on his way to being a special player in this league ala what Freddy Taylor was, then you are flat out blind or simply don't understand what you are watching. 

 

He literally is a threat to score from anywhere on the field once he gets the ball in his hands, and he's got that special knack to NOT get caught from behind. People took issue with Blackmon's "40 time" around draft time, and it was stupid because you could tell by how he played in college that it really was never an issue. Its not an issue at the pro level either. 

 

.....Can you imagine how good he'll be once he gets a legit QB throwing the rock to him?!?!?

Agree fully. Cecil has the potential to be very good but Blackmon is a  NATURAL....

JB- 17 games played 69 catches 1,001 yds 5tds... AVG 4 catches 58yds and .3 td's per game

 

In games 9-16 last year JB had 41 640 and 4tds

 

 

CS- 29 games played 88 catches 1420 yds 9TDs... AVG 3 catches 48 yds and .3 td's per game.

That's a bit misleading since C. Shorts may have been active for 10 games, he certainly didn't get any significant playing time.

Blackmon was a rookie WR last season; Cecil was in his 2nd year. You have to compare where players were at similar points in time. Cecil couldn't even get on the field as a rookie. 

 

Blackmon is Freddy T level special as a talent.

You're saying that Blackmon is better now, but we can't compare Blackmon's rookie season to Short's second season. Why? You're saying that Blackmon was better from the beginning anyway. Your only purpose here is to limit all of Shorts's accomplishments to even out their performances. This conversation is nothing more than an attempt to show that you were right over something that most people didn't disagree with or argued about. 

 

Shorts WAS better than Blackmon last year.

 

Why do you assume that when people say Shorts was better, or that we should give Blackmon more than 1 game this year to prove his improvement, as somehow saying Blackmon can't make it in the NFL?

 

If you don't already know that C. Shorts wasn't utilized because of Del Rio's failures, then you're not worth debating. Shorts would occasionally get past his defender on the very few plays he was given. His not seeing the field had more to do with Del Rio simply not knowing how to use him or not seeing his ability.

He caught 90% of his yards against busted coverages. He did nothing special on either big play. I still think he is going to be a great player, Im just saying that any WR on the roster could have made the 2 plays where he gained all his yards.

And...any rookie QB coming in here better not have the handcuffs put on.....we have the weapons to allow for an aggressive development for the rookie QB like the Colts did with both Manning and Luck. You want to groom your QB to be aggressive and go for the big play, you don't want him playing scared and afraid to try to make a big play if he sees an opportunity. If he throws a lot of INT's as a rookie, who cares? Its not about that. Its about how he learns from those mistakes. Putting the handcuffs on a rookie QB only neuters him for the future.

The last sentence in particular though, and its ridiculous too - because Blackmon made those same kind of plays all throughout college as well, and yet the draftniks STILL questioned his supposed "lack of speed"....
