Jimmy Garoppolo

Ever hear of this guy? His stats so far: 2,053 yards, 23 Touchdowns. In five games. There's an article here and here about him, but I wouldn't get on the whole "First Round draft pick" bandwagon just yet. I don't think he's in Bridgewater's class, but he's an intriguing prospect.

Some more stats for you. He's a four year starter that has already amassed 10,000 yards of Offense. He will most likely break Tony Romo's school record for Touchdown passes of 85 since he already has 79. He threw for 900+ yards in two games versus San Diego State and Northern Illinois.

Apparently, he does not have a big arm, but there is enough there to enable him to make NFL-caliber throws. Consider this excerpt from Greg Gabriel:

<p style="margin-left:40px;">

<p style="margin-left:40px;">"...He has good arm strength and can easily throw the ball 50+ yards but by no means can he drill the ball...

<p style="margin-left:40px;">His arm will improve when he gets into an NFL strength program ...

<p style="margin-left:40px;">My one concern is he doesn’t throw a consistently tight ball. While he shows he can drive the ball, I have also seen a number of throws where the ball flutters
..."

I look forward to learning more about him.

I saw his game against NIU. I liked what I saw had no idea he was putting up video game type numbers so far. My favorite FCS guy in this draft though is Jeff Matthews from Cornell though

two of his games from this season. Threw for 3 TDs against EKU and 6TDs vs. NIU.

If you scroll a bit down the NIU game is available.

Seemed like his accuracy on some of those fades to the End Zone wasn't all that good.

I found this article on Matthews. Gabriel brings up an interesting point about small-school QB's W-L record:

<p style="margin-left:40px;">

<p style="margin-left:40px;">"...When you are evaluating quarterbacks, especially from the smaller schools, the win-loss record is a very important stat. Why? Because if a quarterback is a legitimate NFL prospect at a smaller school, he will make that team a better team. While Mathews flashes impressive skills, he has failed to win games on a consistent basis

Never knew his W-L record wasn't very good. I still think he could develop into a starter though. If he doesn't I won't be surprised at all, rarely do small school QBs become anything more than backups.

The more I watch the film from those games that roycee posted, the less impressed I am by him. Granted, I have this giganticly impressive resume as a Little League Football coach to lean back on, but it seems like he's not very accurate down the field. I think his arm strength is a really limiting factor.

He really kind of reminds me of David Fales last year. And by that I mean I would really have to see him play another year for consistency. He still just looks like an okay COLLEGE qb.
