Mercedes Lewis says "I don't believe anyone can cover me"

Quote:So in other words, you're telling me exactly what I said.

A stud receiving tight end does not necessarily correlate to a good record.

Thanks for making my point.
Do you smoke meth or something?

1. A receiving Tight end is very valuable, especially in today's NFL.  Your either playing stupid or just are.

2. Marcedes may see 1 or 2 balls thrown his way a game vs a receiving Tight end who may see 6-10.  Of course Lewis has a higher percentage cause he hardly gets any balls thrown his way.

That's not the way percentages work.

The whole point of calculating a percentage is to be able to compare two things with different sample sizes.

The only way that you can say that an increase in numbers will generate different percentages is to make the assumption that future outcomes will be different from current outcomes and that is a faulty assumption.

You are trying to make the case that dropping 2 of 10 passes inevitably leads to dropping more than 2 of his next 10 passes. You can't logically justify that stance because you can't eliminate the 2 other possible outcomes of dropping the same number of passes during the next 10 or dropping less than 2 the next 10.

Oh the irony.

I can see you're not a math major.

You really are that dumb, I apologize.

Laughing   There's never a 5th grader around when you need one.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Quote:Well, 6 pages of largely defending Marcedes sorta speaks otherwise, despite the verbatim take of your quote maybe being correct,
So saying a player should be excited about the upcoming season is " overdone" but your very first post involving a lame Dan Uggla joke is fair.

Gotcha.

LOL, so you translate/ equate "No one can cover me" to mean "excited for the upcoming season".... LOL. Interesting. I translate "I'm excited for the upcoming season" to mean "I'm excited for the upcoming season". But maybe thats just me....

Given the player's history, criticism is fair....especially when he's going to actually run his mouth about his "ability". Laughing

I don't know, all the oversensitivity in this thread seems to be coming from the people bashing a player over a sentence.

Funny, I finally watched the video and I don't hear him 'running his mouth'.

I like the swagger but I get the thought that he needs to do a little walking before he starts talking. I think he's a good TE but he's not a pass catching machine. With that said, if talking motivates him into a 60 catch, 700 yard, 11 TD season, I won't complain a bit!
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

I don't like swagger from players who haven't earned the right to talk it. It makes them look ridiculous.

If Marcedes had Jimmy Graham/ Jason Witten type production....and he wants to "chirp"...hey, have at it man, you earned it....but Marcedes is nothing but a barely average player....a massively overpaid one at that.

Lol What do you translate it as? So he has confidence, is that such a bad thing?Stop being such a whiney lil dog, what NFL player would say any differently?

Do you not do your craft with the same conviction? Dont you (oddly) think you are some pro level football analyst, after recently getting out of a "tank for teddy" phase? Should people not listen to what you have to say for how dumb that idea turned out to be?

Sorry for all the questions, your thought process is fascinating to me.

His production has been pedestrian from a pass catching/TD stand point.  Tight ends are also paid to block though and he's way above average in that department, at least according to people who grade these kinds of things.  The key is he has the talent to be the kind of guy he thinks he is, he just has to be in the upper echelon statistically.  I think his comments he may be using for self-motivation which I'm OK with as long as he can cash in on it.

Did Joe Montana have confidence? Funny, he was one of the best at his position and I don't remember him needing to sound like a [BAD WORD REMOVED] to prove it.

Hearing Marcedes chirp is like hearing Bill Cartwright of the old Jordan Bulls days boast about how he's unstoppable in the paint. LOL!!! Laughing Laughing

Talk is friggin cheap, and when you do not and have not shown the production to back the words of your BIG MOUTH then its merely just ridiculousness for Marcedes to say stuff like "I don't think anyone can cover me".  Its stupid.

No, not really....as said, I just think its lame for average at best players to run their mouth.

I also didn't like when Reggie Williams would celebrate ordinary 4 yard receptions and I don't like when LB jump around and dance like morons after making an ordinary tackle after a 4-5 yard gain, either...

If a player thats earned his stripes wants to run his mouth, then I have less of a problem with it.

Its funny to see you fall over yourself defending Marcedes When he is essentially the Tyson Alualu of TEs, and we all know how you feel about Alualu.

Well. not really. Alualu has started every game in his career and plays through injury.

Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.

Fall over myself? I said Marcedes needed to step up the most out of anyone on the team not playing QB.

Lol because Tyson has had anywhere close to a probowl season.Tyson Alualu is garbage. Maybe Marcedes has some left, maybe not, but atleast I have actually SEEN him make a difference in a game.

Btw this LUCRATIVE contract Marcedes has, is still only 7m more than we are paying the ROTATIONAL player we have in Alualu.
