Trent Richardson to Colts For First Rounder

Without Richardson all we would have is Donald Brown right now. How would you like that for pass protection?

The trade was good for the Colts.

Pass.... Protection?

Is that some fancy new thing the Colts are trying out?  Hmm... maybe the Jags should give it a try.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It's like when guys on here used to justify Reggie Williams for his run blocking

TR, 1st half stats against Seattle. .33 YPC.

Just an update. At the end of the 3rd qtr, TR has upped his YPC to 3.4. If he keeps this up, he may hit his average.

Colts playing well but Richardson seems such a waste. Donald Brown even looks way more dangerous

Update. Good win for Colts, but TR finishes with 3.1 YPC. Not even enough for a first down if you ran him every time.

Good trade.

Good trade.

I'm on record as not being sold on the trade, but I will say that if Indy had Trent in the Miami game they would be undefeated. He fits the current regimes philosophy of banging it late to hold on too leads. He had a couple big runs on the last drive to run down the clock and get the FG. As a colts fan, I can't bring my self to be mad about much right now - even if Im not sold on the trade. Wins against Seattle and at SF? I'll take it!!

Bradshaw on IR. Richardson's time to shine.

Yup, 1st rounder for a blocker.  Great trade!  Maybe we could trade an UFDA FB for Colts second?

I know what you're trying to say here, but you have to realize Jags spent their 1st overall on a blocker.

If he doesn't play better it will be a very, very bad trade for you.  You can't justify trading a 1st round pick for a RB who pass protects.... Is that what you are trying to do?  Granted he deserves more time so we will see how it plays out.

I'm in the wait-n-see crowd. So far I am not so impressed with Trent Richardson, but the choices/decisions (or whatever anyone would call it) that Grigson has made as the General Manager so far is pretty impressive to me. Some of the players that I thought were going to pay big dividends this season were Dwayne Allen, Vick Ballard, and picking up Bradshaw (but they are on IR). Jerrell Freeman has picked up where he left off last season, and is really playing big time for a CFL (free no draft pick used) pick up. Vontae Davis? Sure a 2nd rounder, but that was spent on Derek Cox by the Jags, and Vontae Davis has been killing it this season.

When Cory Redding turns it on, he is really impressive, but he seems to have a switch ... and if that switch stayed turned on, he would be a top 10 D-Lineman (IMO). T.Y. Hilton was taken in the 3rd, and I ordered his Jersey last season, because you (me) could see that he was going to be really good. I so far haven't seen the upside in swapping out Donnie Avery for Darrius Heyward-Bey ... Yet, but who knows maybe he will be Jacoby Jones in the playoffs if the Colts get there.

Anyway, you give me the name of any NFL GM, and I will give you a mistake he made, in hindsight. There will always be hits, and misses. So far I think Grigson is doing pretty good. He will need to eventually replace Wayne, Bethea, and Mathis (not their position per se) ... I thought Dwayne Allen was going to be one of those type of guys coming into this season, and guys like Vontae are getting there pretty fast.

If the Richardson deal becomes a flop? Bad picks, or decisions are made by even the perceived best NFL GM's ... But in the end you have to judge the entire body of work.

Newer GM's like Caldwell & Grigson = TBD

BTW, how good of a job do you guys think Elway is doing? I am starting to wonder if he really did(n't) want to lose Elvis Dumervil ... Did he gain cap space he needed, or just cut it too close to the deadline ... Who does that when the stakes are that high?

I so far haven't seen why Grigson traded for Richardson, but a few games after trading for Davis I also didn't see the payback.

0-5 Caldwell? If you are going to judge him now? He sucks worse than suck itself. I think I will wait to see where he takes the Jaguars down the road instead of knee jerking his every move. You guys should give it a try. :woot:
