Training Camp NOT Family Friendly

Quote:When did they start having music over loud speakers at practice? It's been a while since I drove up for a practice, but is that normal to have a DJ playing music during practice? Or was that for entertainment of the spectators?

I think the last time we drove up for practice my oldest was 4 so that would be about 3 years ago, but we got rained out that day so it's been longer than that since we actually saw training camp.

Its be a staple of practice ever since Gus took over.

Chip Kelly is another big advocate of playing music during practice, who believes the music boosts energy and efficiency.  So those of you who hate rap, or whatever other type of music you hate, remember it may be the one thing keeping us from not being terrible again this year.   :woot:

Quote:This was heavily reported as a tool to enhance the players performance on the practice field. And something Gus Bradley believed in. Not sure how much it was done before the Gus Bradley era (if at all). But it's not like "workout music" is a foreign concept or anything.

Huh I must have just forgot about that. Not objecting to it just curious when this started makes sense Gus is a tempo guy

They do play country music at the practices.   They play all kinds of music.  Rap is no more than 10% of it.

I don't know who makes up the play list.  Maybe they take requests from the players and coaches?

It's definitely a mix. Rap, rock, country, soul.

I like listening to music while I workout, why wouldnt they?  I think it also helps with how loud a stadium can get and keeps them comfortable during the games.

i was just being satirical. Every once in a while I unintentionally let a bad word slip in front of the kid and she never reacts, but I wonder if the habit will manifest itself down the road

When my son was about two we were on our way to my mothers house for dinner. Mr Bunny was driving and Bunny boy was in the back seat in his little car seat when something happened that I can't even remember what now, but it sent Mr Bunny, not the most patient man on the planet, off on a five minute rant about another driver that contained only one curse word. He ended his tirade with son of a...and a word that rhymes with itch. Out of the hundred or so words he used in his rant, itch was the only one that Bunny boy picked up on and proceeded to repeat it like a parrot!!

Itch, itch, itch.....he even sounded like he was chirping it!! That was a very interesting dinner!!

Ah, the old Mommy story about what her cute little son said.

My Mom always told the story about the toilet seat that fell on my inch worm.

I can't tell the rest of the story like my Mom could.

Not in public, anyway.

I was at practice yesterday. Being the old fart I am I really don't know any of the lyrics to most of the songs being played. To me it was just background stuff to hear. If that guy actually was able to identify curse words he must have been awfully focused on just the music and nothing else going on around him.

According to John Lennon, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was not actually about LSD.  He said this in the 70s so it's not like he was trying to hide anything.  "The Green, Green Grass of Home" by Tom Jones however is clearly about weed.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
