Jaguars DE Tyson Alualu gets the start ahead of Chris Clemons in first, fully padded, 11-on-11 drills of camp

Wait what?

They dont even play the same position

Was watching Inside the Jaguars and JP Shadrick said they were emphasizing the red zone and the rushing game today, so there's the likely answer for Alualu's start.

Good to hear Bortles is doing better from mini-camp/OTA's. Hopefully Lee/Robinson are the end of our WR struggles. The Jags couldn't get a break in that department even if it hit them in the face.

Just to add to the Gratz debate, He is simply "A guy". He hasn't earned the right to be a pencil-in starter but he has earned a spot on the roster as a backup. What he does this year will go a long way toward what his future will be.

Given Gerhart's size, he won't be getting many/ any red zone carries vultured away. Might make for a good fantasy football sleeper.

I think the likely answer is that Mark Long doesnt know what he is talking about. Alualu is not a LEO and isnt starting "over" any LEOs we do have.

Did anyone else read Linder getting the best of Bryant on back to back plays? that's impressive. Can we use the thread for it's intended purpose instead of using it to bash/argue with TMD?

he must be.. I think perhaps Clemons is not in with the ones due to him missing time earlier in camp? Maybe they just have confidence in Alualu

I'm more perplexed that people think Alualu plays LEO now

That's odd. That only looks like half of the tweet. I wonder how that happened.

Bortles just threw a 100mph fastball in traffic to Mike Brown...who dropped it. Good day for Bortles

I was there also...saw that pass.  He looked good. Pretty cool day at camp...players were great afterward and had a few sign.  Cyprien, Anger, Scobee. Gerhart,  Shorts, Coach Bradley, Posluszny, M. Lee, my former Cowboys Ball and Young & D. Watson all signed my hat.  Can't wait to go again...great time.

They made a comment in one of the videos on the home page that Bryant wasen't fitting/moving the way they had expected him too. Maybe it is a wake up call.

I think you heard that wrong.

The comment was talking about with the pads being on if "a young lineman knows his assignments but can't move Red Bryant or Ziggy Hood, falls back in the eyes of the coaches."

Bradley wants the players to compete. Competing means giving players the same type of opportunities/ challenges.

People have made the assumption that guys like Bryant are just going to be given the job over a vet like Alualu. Both will be given chances. If Bryant gets the starting job it means he beat out Alualu on the field.
