Quote:2nd round rookie beats 3rd round second year player.

As if that is cause for concern.

Some like livin' the glass half empty life.

Agreed, because obviously if a second round rookie can beat the kid, most of us on this forum could probably beat him too.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

You can't believe this shallow trite cliche nonsense.

He did. To the board, he should have gone to the pro-bowl his rookie year and have 14 picks.

Dudes gotta be bi-polar. For a couple weeks he made sense. One scrimmage later he's evaluated the entire roster and they're average. Amazing scouting ability.

It's his act. He has to stay in character.

Quote:Nope.

I wanted CB Jonathan Banks with the 2nd.

So, nice to see you just throw crap against the wall and hope some sticks.

Nice guess though with Barkley as one of the 2 players, tho.

Quote:That would have been nice. Banks ranked 100 while Gratz is 42. Banks allowing a 97 passer rating while Gratz allowing a 75.

It's a good think they didn't listen to you and picked Gratz instead of reaching for Johnthan Banks earlier.

Our secondary is fine. Will Blackmon and Alan Ball played far above expectations last year and were often lights out on the field. Our Safeties are doing fine as well. Cyp had his rookie moments but looks to have emerged as tremendous SS. I'm not ready to rank him yet vs other starting SSs, but I have no issues with him continuing to start. And our FS position looks to fill out just fine with Winston Guy and Josh Evans neck-in-neck vying for the role. Either player could start on at FS on most teams in this league. Quite frankly, the secondary is one of the strongest units on the team and overall is at least above average in this league. I don't know what all your complaining is about regarding this group. There's even some intriguing depth at CB with Rashaad Reynolds and Demetrius McCray.

What are you talking about? I was never high on Cyprien/ Gratz.

That said, theres a LOT of players on this roster that I am very pleased with and have high expectations for. Those 2 aren't amongst them. Neither played better than average last year. Nor will they this year. They are what they are. By 2015, another CB will be drafted and unseat Gratz as a starter.

you don't know that. He really played pretty well for a rookie considering the situation. So did Cyp and they both showed improvement. You may not agree but they way you come off as know it all is what irritates people. You've been wrong plenty before and there's a good chance you'll be wrong again. there is nothing wrong with that in fact.

Plus if Gratz had started all 16 games you can project that he would have finished with 60+ tackles and 4-5 interceptions. Not bad for a rookie at all, let alone a 3rd round pick.

I doubt he'd have totaled the 4-5 INT's part, since the INT's he did get were vs the starting QB on the easy part of the schedule. He might have 60 tackles though, since he's constantly giving up completions.

he's really not if you look at the stats. I think we allowed a lower completion percentage then Revis.

I'm quite certain you'll be eating crow by week 4 or 5 on your  Cyprien prediction.  I'm on the fence about Gratz, but I think he's very capable of playing "better than average."

I'm mildly surprised you haven't learned anything from past experiences when it comes to writing off players after their rookie seasons.

We've all had opinions on guys and turned out to be wrong (and occasionally, right).  Most of us understand this and have some humility about it, knowing how easily we could be wrong this time too.

Some though, never learn, and will keep speaking as if they have an infallible track record.

Documented so I can rub this in your face when you turn out to be dead wrong.

Our whole secondary will look better with a improved pass rush. Gratz held his own last year as a 3rd round rookie if he doesn't improve this year they should stick him in the slot and draft a bonafied DB or grab one in free agency
