Texans are close to acquiring Ryan Mallett

Quote:Why does anyone argue with TMD? The guy talks out of his [BAD WORD REMOVED]. He will never admit he is a [BAD WORD REMOVED] half-wit so arguing with him is pointless. TMD won't have some epiphany where he ceases to be a [BAD WORD REMOVED] so all efforts to make him do so are wasted. Just ignore him..

Hey, ask FBT. He seems to think he's required to respond to every TMD post, or egg him on if it's been more than three minutes since TMD posted.

FBT - you're one of the most "sane" posters on here, except when it comes to TMD. You've really let him get into your head.

And the rest of of us have to read three pages of back and forth that gets pretty boring.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

Well......  Mayock thinks he's trade worthy.  Or, he's helping the Pats lure a trade.

You've definitely been preaching what Mayock seems to be on board with.   Could be interesting if he goes somewhere and gets to start....

I still have no clue about the guy -- but I tend to think he'd have garnered more interest by now if he was legit. Hopefully we get to find out.

He'll be a Free Agent next year. Save the draft pick and wait until he's available. No one's traded for him now I don't see a team calling for a trade this close to the start of the season.

I agree, if anyone was going to trade for him the time for that would have been before OTAs, so he could actually be ready to start for a team.

Apparently the pats wanted way too much for a guy who doesn't have any decent game tape.

Everyone will likely get to kick the tires for him during the offseason.

If NE lets him roll over to Free Agency they will get nothing in return. Can they be this stupid? Do they know something we don't know like Brady is going to retire after this year?

Of course they could like to keep him in case Brady got hurt.

I really thought he was a sure trade in the off season. Maybe now but who? Again I say if it happens Texans. He has truly been the strangest player that has never played.

Jim Sorgi was "legit" too. Matt Cassel, he was legit too. The list goes on. Backup quarterbacks that play behind elite franchise level guys are nearly always overrated.

It wouldn't be surprising on this end if the Patriots end up with a top 40 pick when all of the dust settles.

I dunno about Sorgi but you could add Matt Flynn to the list.

I think teams could get desperate and trade for him early this season if he shows promise in the Pre-season. Tom Brady plays maybe a drive a game in the pre season and that's about it. Mallett will get plenty of opportunities to show what he's got.

Why would the Pats trade him? He can compete with Garroppolo for the starting spot when Brady retires.

6/9 1 int to put things in perspective.

Boston media called it his best performance so far in camp, but said he was one of many players who stood out. Hardly gushing over his performance like Maylock. That's probably because they watch him every practice. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/pa...shine.html

ESPN's patriot beat writer having watched him all camp wasn't nearly as impressed with Mallett's performance as Maylock. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-engla...t-thoughts

Media that covers a team full time tends to be much more optimistic evaluating potential bright spots on their team than national media. So when they give a much more subdued account of Mallett's practice and even go so far as to question the exuberance of Maylock's evaluation, you know something isn't adding up right.

I think Maylock and Kraft were hitting the sauce together right before filming the segment.

He has one year left on his deal. He won't be there when Brady retires. He'll sucker some team (Houston, St Louis, Arizona) into giving him starter money.
