That's a head scratcher.

In the choice between evils we prefer the choice that gives the most freedom, equality, and mobility to the most people.

Take the human element out of society and I'll fully support communism. However being that we are human and there will always be the human element I'll take the "non-perfect" system that gives the individual the most power.

No government system is flawless.  We just prefer the system that doesn't involve submitting to another man's wills and desires.

I'm just baffled that you think a "true free market" is possible, despite acknowledging the human elements that would greatly hinder it. Like I said, that's something you learn in an economics 101 class.

Quote:Or you can pay the price for government control in Cuba.  You and everyone except the elite will receive your food rations.  You can get as far in life as your government will allow for its own best interests.  You can enjoy all of your authoritarian governance along with fellow neutered indoctrinated mass who believe it is you who owe the government something for being alive in their country.

Why would I go to Cuba when there are a bunch of other socialist nations in Europe that aren't being economically attacked by the USA?

Like I said, though, there's quite literally nothing in the way of you moving to Somalia, bringing all of your stuff, and hiding in a cave where the bad old government won't come to get you.

You know, except the fact that Somalia is very militant and is controlled by marshal law.  Freedom lovers dream right there.

America has it the closest in the world and that's why America has been historically the greatest nation on the planet.  However, its drifting from its original principles which made it great.  Go live in Europe and worship your Euro.  Save me any [BLEEP] stories in 15 or 20 years when all of Europe's economy collapses.

If you made me choose another country closer to libertarian principles, it would probably be Andorra.

forget what they taught you in the government institutions, of course they teach you a true free market outside of government regulation isn't possible!

You're incorrect, Somalia has practically no central control.

Sure you'll end up having to deal with tribal warlords and everyone trying to take everything you have with a Kalashnikov pointed at you, but, hey, at least you'll have all the freedom you can breath through the holes in your chest.

By militant, I don't mean by the government.  The warlords have the soldiers going around restricting other people's liberties.  Its like having a dozen tyrannical authoritarian governments under 1 roof.  Not exactly a libertarian's dream, but keep telling yourself that is what libertarians are seeking.

It might not be what you think you want, but it's what you'll actually get in the libertarian paradise.

And I could make the same argument about Cuba or Russia for the socialists paradise.

You can make any argument you want, however, when you're just spouting nonsequiturs then you're not making the point you think you are.

I don't need to go to Cuba for socialism under a totalitarian regime, I can go to Europe and enjoy a higher quality of life than here.

If you really believe that then maybe you should go see for yourself.  I hear Greece is beautiful this time of year.

That's what lax tax collection will get a nation.

I'm more partial to the Scandinavian nations, myself.
