I am pretty sure that having 2 local icons (Sammy and Mark) calling the game is the reason and probably saves some money... I did hear on the podcast that Tony B will be doing the TV cover in Detroit... Mark Brunell has improved his TV I think since he's been with ESPN as a commentator.. Let's see how much whoever covers the Bears/Jags game ( probably the main ESPN crew for its first warmup) talks about the Jags anyway.... What's Gruden going to do without Gabbert to beat up???

If you're worried about the choices for game announcers, just remember how long it took Khan to get rid of Gene Smith and Mike Mularkey. If Frangie and Kouvaris suck, they won't return next year.

I thought it sounded pretty amateur. Kouvaris just is not a PBP guy. WJXT had audio issues. And they used the old logo on multiple occasions.

Just started watching the game on the dvr. The opening sequence set the tone. Dead silence. No audio. Attaboy channel 4! At least it's not a Cheers rerun.

Wow. Kouvaris was really awful. On the Winston Guy pick 6, he sounded like he was doing play by play of paint drying. Just awful.

Frangie was bad as expected, in the 1st quarter he tried to say Bucs and I can't remember what he said but it wasn't Bucs. Multiple occassions where he called the wrong penalty even after the ref just said it.

What really got me is that he almost sounded like he was on delay, but he wasn't. The rest of the broadcast was in synch except for him.


I don't know if he was waiting on his spotters to tell him what was going on, but he was always a bit behind the play.
