Do the people who bash TMD for getting his picks wrong ever...and I mean EVER take a stand in favor of a player before the draft?

 

Knock him for getting some wrong, but at least he takes a stance on a player before the draft.

 

Many of you guys wont bother to offer a supporting opinion of a player until the Jaguars draft him, then you rubber stamp the decision until the player proves to be a bust or leaves.  Anyone can do that. 

 

The fact is, everyone who offers an opinion of their own on a player is going to get his share wrong.

 

Even the guys paid by NFL teams to do it.

You have been on this board longer than me and you still haven't noticed the way he operates?   I always take stands on players before the draft and most others do too, they just dont do it the way he does.  "Do the people who bash TMD for getting his picks wrong ever"  that is a stupid question, nobody could ever hit on all picks he just misses more than others and its the way he goes about it. 

 

He wanted Arthur Brown or Jonthan Banks last year in the 2nd and went as far as to call Arthur Brown the next Ray Lewis or Mike Singletary.  I liked both players also along with Cyp but then bashed Dave when he drafted Cyb instead of those 2.  Last year Cyp and Gratz both outplayed Banks and Brown and we got Gratz in the 3rd.  They could be better in the long run but Brown will never be a Lewis or a Singletary and never was and anyone that disagreed had no clue what they were talking about.

 

Then Teddy Bridgewater was the next Peyton Manning and wanted us to tank for Teddy half way through the season for an average weak armed QB and bashed the front office when we started impoving our young players and winning games the 2nd half of last year.

Thinks Barkley is one of the next up and coming QBs while Foles is just another guy after 27 TDs and 2 Ints

 

Many many more just a few examples.  The guy just goes way overboard and he bashes our FO sometimes when he has no clue what goes on behind closed doors, kinda like the Monroe trade.  If the Jags would pick the guys every year that he wants this team would probably be in LA right now but he still thinks those would be the right picks.

And see this is where your entire argument exposes itself. You damn well know that my overall stance against Gabbert was defined. 99% of my posts regarding Gabbert from the month leading up to that draft to throughout his tenure here was not a positive tone. 

 

I did make a post somwhere in Gabberts 2nd season where I felt that that combo could later be seen as a long time one akin to Aikman/ Irvin, but it clearly had more to do with the Blackmon side of it, as he's the one with the all world talent. You've cited that post like 16 times already. 

 

The thing is, and this doesn't change. 95% of my total posting history about Gabbert was negative. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt at times and support him because thats what fans do with their starting QB. When he legitimately played well, which was few and far between I would try to support that. But Gabbert would always do something pretty quickly to exterminate any support I tried having for him, 

 

So, continue to cite this post about 400 more times, it ain't changing the truth.

I'd look but short on time right now. I enjoy the mass exposure of the fraud known as TMD, not just because, but because of how he not only guarantees he's right ahead of time but later begs us to acknowledge he was right, like the mallett thing, asking us to say sorry and he was right about something that NEVER EVEN HAPPENED.

No offense but I am not quite sure you should be holding anything against anyone when it comes to QBs.  You were probably the biggest supporter of Blaine Gabbert I have ever seen.

Well, some people seem to have the opinion that you should just leave it up to the professionals. 

 

I don't feel like you need to "leave it to the professionals" necessarily, in the sense that this is a message board and talking about what we think is the primary purpose. 

 

I do think you should have some self-awareness of how little any of us really know, how often we're wrong about guys (etc) and keep that bit of humility about our opinions.  This means saying what you think, but not championing it so hard that you want to bash the team for not doing it, or insulting posters who disagree. 

 

There are guys I like every draft that we don't take, and that's okay.  It's possible that this other guy they took, who I don't know as well, is going to turn out better, is a better scheme fit, or had less red flags during research (etc).  Just maybe they do know something I don't. 

 

When you just say "I like this guy, not that guy so much, here is why", I don't think you're going to get much push back.  When you say "this guy is going to be all-pro in this league, the team is stupid for not taking him, and you are too if you can't see that", then yeah, you're asking for the push back.
