Henne and Bortles splitting halves makes little sense. I'd like to know what the thought process for that one is. Perhaps the coaches have already made up their opinions on Stanzi/Morris. I'd put Bortles in for a quarter against the ones and then kick the tires on Stanzi/Morris. We know what Henne is and capable of. Let Preseason game 3 be used to get Henne's rust off.


And Im glad they are going to put Lee's [BLEEP] to the fire on thursday. No excuses for Lee. The balls coming. Better catch it.

Stanzi/ Morris will likely split the 4th game.


If there is anytime to find out about your rookie QB, its in the pre-season.Plus, how much difference will " knocking the rust off" make with Chad Henne? Thatd be like choosing to commute via pogo stick versus walking somewhere. Yes, you have technically upgraded the situation, but its still gonna really... really suck.

I think that Henne starting the whole first half may actually be more of a positive nod towards Bortles. Perhaps the coaching staff is re-evaluating Henne and their decision to not make this an open competition. They'll take an extended look at him this week.

 

Valid point. I just hope Dr. Jekyll shows up instead of Mr. hyde. We really do need bortles to stay on the bench till' midseason atleast. I think its less about what Bortles does and more about what Henne may or may not do.

Well lets be fair to Henne (and I'm far from a Henne supporter). Two drives were killed by bad snaps (Brewster) and both were inside the 40.

Exactly. Yeah the bad snaps sucked but being realistic he was trying to dink and dunk. Even if the post farther up is correct and the coaches wanted to see the running game Henne still dropped back to pass multiple times and just looked bad.

 

What i like from Bortles is when you see a 2 way choice of High or Low or routes Bortles takes deeper route and looks for the deeper route first. Henne seems to do the opposite.

I remember wanting Caldwell back in the day when he came out of Alabama, but I was under the impression that he failed pretty hard in Houston.

they haven't screwed anything up (aside from keeping Mulwrkey that one year) they said they would start Bortles when he was ready. We've seen him in one game (yes he looked really good) but lets let them stick to their plan and continue to develop his mechanics and footwork. No reason to rush it.

He was here earlier this year on a tryout basis at the rookie mini camp. Looks like he'll get another shot.
