Goodell Considering Harsher Penalties for Domestic Violence
|
Wasn't sure if this belonged in political, or NFL at large. Politicians are mentioned, so I went with politics. If it's in the wrong section, please move it.
http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Sport...c-Violence What does everybody think? Should the NFL have harsher penalties for Domestic Violence? Or should the NFL not make punishments for what goes on in the players private lives?
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It would help send a message to the public that follow the NFL that Domestic Violence is not acceptable.
It's up to the NFL but I would like to see them adopt a 3 strike rule. Break the law once your suspended for half a season, break the law twice a season, the third time you're out of the league.
This was inevitable since they didn't have any guidelines in place for incidents like the Ray Rice situation. They have to come up with something to address instances like this.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Break the law once your suspended for half a season, break the law twice a season, the third time you're out of the league. That seems awfully vague to me. Break the law? Any law? Felonies only? Felonies bargained down to a lesser charge? I think you have to allow a Commissioner to have some leeway, to show some discretion, rather than have a one size fits all policy. If the owners don't like the penalties enacted by the Commissioner they can always get another Commissioner.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

Over what? Crab legs? Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already.

Quote:I wonder if Rice would now fall under 2nd offense going forward? And Greg Hardy for that matter. Greg Hardy possibly: Per PFT Quote:Under the new policy, which falls under the personal conduct policy overseen by Goodell, players would be suspended at least six games for a first offense and would face a lifetime ban for a second. The letter also specifies that the new penalties apply to all NFL personnel and Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy could be the first person punished under its new guidelines.

It's technically more of an indefinite suspension as players are able to appeal for reinstatement after one year, though it may not be granted.

Well, it's about time. Even Goodell admits he didn't get it right in dealing with Ray Rice, so the league is finally going to address the domestic violence issue.
