QB Nick Foles

(This post was last modified: 06-09-2014, 02:21 PM by The Mad Dog.)

Quote:Foles to me seems like a risky gamble, because he didnt even start for the Eagles last season & when he did many thought he wouldnt last more than a game.  He shocked everyone but like you said he lost a huge weapon with Jackson going to the Eagles.  I mean he has an offensive genius HC so I'm sure he's worthy of a 1st round pick in the Fantasy draft but if you have someone like Peyton Manning, among other proven reliable high scorers it'll be hard to reach for him that high (unless your die hard Eagles fan).

The ultra low number of INT's that Foles had last season was a fluke. I saw many instances of passes dropped by the defense as well as an awful would-be-game-losing INT vs Arizona late in the 4th Q that was called back via bull crap penalty.

Foles will probably never be an INT machine, but it seems the people citing the 25 TD, 2 INT thing implying its legit and will reasonably be repeated are deluding themselves.

It was actually 27 TDs and 2 INTs and no one believes those numbers will be repeated. If those numbers were repeated, Foles would be on the fast track to the HOF. No one is claiming the Foles is a HOF quarterback, but it's a strawman you like to build to make yourself feel more right.

Also, only in your fantasy world is Nick Foles the only QB that ever to throw a gift-wrapped INT that gets dropped or have INTs called back on penalties.

TMD, name me 16 NFL QBs better than Foles, because I think Foles is in the top half of the NFL in terms of QB.

You say no one is claiming Foles is a HOF QB, but the level time, conviction you put into defending the guy, maybe 1 believes he is Laughing

Your posts are always the same; putting words in others mouths. Nowhere did I say that Foles is the only QB to ever have INT's dropped.

My argument is Foles' is overrated by some based on the offense he plays in and the numbers that offense helps generate.

Has your opinion changed on him from last year?

"But had Vick been able to stay healthy, the Eagles record would be at least where it is right now, if not better and Vick;s numbers in Kelly's offense would be staggering." - TMD

"Vick was doing fine early before the injuries started piling up. Vick would lap circles around Foles in this offense in terms of stats had he stayed healthy. And they would have made the playoffs with a healthy Vick as well." - TMD

"Put Kirk Cousins in Chip Kelly's offense and his stats are better than Foles. Put Foles in Washington's offense and he's much less effective." - TMD

"However, switch the 2 QB (put Cousins on Philly with Kelly's offense and put Foles in Washington) and Foles stats would be garbage and he'd be losing, and Cousins would be lighting it up and winning." - TMD

You already know my opinions evolved on Cousins (we talked about it the other day), so thats typical disingenuous from you to continue to cite that.

As for Vick? I do believe had he stayed healthy he would have put up really nice numbers in that offense and the Eagles would have won just about as many games with Vick as Foles.

Ok so in one year of watching, you can say foles is a system product and garbage, but from one year to another your "opinion has evolved" on cousins. Which means you flip flopped.

Ill hope to hear you talk about how your opinion evolved on foles after he has another great year. Id also like your thoughts when geno beats out vick for the qb job in ny.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Foles is largely a system product and average. Thats my words. Cousins played like crap this year. Its not "flip flopping" its an opinion changing with more info to go on.

I couldn't care less about Vick in NY, I never said I was a Vick fan. Thats you and your weird interpretations, again.

Quote:Losing DeSean Jackson will hurt Foles a little, but I think they more than made up for it by signing Sproles and drafting a couple of good WR's.

I usually draft a QB in the late 1st round or early 2nd, depending on when I pick.  Drafted Manning last year in the middle 2nd and won it all.

When the dust settles, how high do you guys think Foles will be in the fantasy rankings for QB's?

I'm thinking 4th behind only Manning, Brees and Rodgers.
I personally believe Foles to be the biggest steal of this draft, and one of the most underrated players. In 10 person leagues, I haven't seen him drafted until the 7th or 8th round! You can grab some solid players and still be able to grab him late. He's rated low.

7th or 8th round is low for the amount of TD he is likely to put up in Kelly's offense.

Foles is a better fantasy QB than he is an actual NFL QB.

I can see why some of you are cautious. He simply hasn't got a long enough track record yet. So there is an element of risk in picking him,

I don't think you can knock what he has done so far. And he appears to be an offence designed to bring the best out of him.

Definitely a gamble though...

Foles is a top five QB, nestled slightly behind Andrew Luck.

That's true, but a lot of people don't do their research. That's why he is a steal. To us, he's a top 5 QB, but to others they don't know anything about him.

Brady ?

I guess it all swings on whether you think last season was a flash in the pan for Foles.

Brady might be a safer bet.

But who wants to play safe all the time !

Brady, easily.  He  might so slightly better than last year, but he has no WR's and they loaded up at RB.

My rank in a 12-team PPR is probably:

1. Manning

2. Brees

3. Rodgers

4. Foles

5. Stafford

Again, look who Foles will be throwing to this year.  WR: Maclin, Cooper, Matthews, Huff (will surprise) RB: McCoy, Sproles  TE:  Ertz (break-out season), Celek, Casey.

I'd say he has something like 4,500 yards and 35-40 TD if healthy all season.

That or the people drafting understand how deep the QB crop is in today's NFL. If you're taking Foles before the 7th round on a 10-team league, then you are missing out on some quality players at other positions.

I've seen Rivers in round 9, Luck in round 8, Romo in round 7, RG3 in round 8, Wilson in round 12, Cutler in round 9, Ben in rd 10. And some of these are 12 team leagues.

Vereen is a pass catching RB and Gronkowski is back.

I can't wait to dig this thread up after the season and rub the dog's nose in his pile of excrement.

Well, we all know that won't happen. He'll be slinging it against the wall in one thread all the while ignoring the bumped thread with his pretentious claims
