Republican Texas Governor Rick Perry indicted.

#21

Quote:The question is would Perry have taken the same stance if this DA was a Republican?

That's irrelevant.  Perry wasn't the only one calling for her resignation.  There were fellow democrats calling for her to step down because she is a sitting DA who plead guilty and served 45 days in jail.  It was an embarrassment.

The only reason she refused was because Perry would have appointed her replacement.

The booking video shows just how belligerent this woman was during her arrest.  They had to restrain her because she was threatening the officers at the jail.

Her big concern during the booking process was that they ruined her entire political career.  Then she started with the threats and abusive behavior.  She figured she could use her position to influence the police into cutting her loose, going so far as to demand repeatedly that they call the sheriff.  She was shocked when she found out the guy had authorized the search warrant to draw he blood.

She was 3 times over the legal limit, btw.

How is it irrelevant? Those same Democrats you claim were calling for her to step down dont have the same authoritative power Perry does.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Not a fan of Rick Perry.  He was one of the choices that would have made me consider voting for Obama.  (The other Republican Rick was the other one).

That said, this is a little ridiculous.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

What's relevant is she broke the law.  What's relevant is she tried to leverage her position to bully the police into letting her off the hook.  What's relevant is that she tries cases like this every day in that county, and she can't  be considered an objective party any longer.  What party she or the governor belongs to only matters now that she's decided she's going to get political payback because he vetoed funding for an public integrity unit she was in charge of because he felt she wasn't qualified to run it following the arrest.  That's his prerogative as governor to determine where millions of dollars will be funneled in state money.

With that said, back to the original question would Perry have taken the same stance if she was a Republican?

Now you're deflecting simply for the sake of partisanship. The next time you criticize political stalemate, look in the mirror.

Good try.

The point of me asking that question was because the majority of both sides will not force the members of their own political parties to step down, unless a serious felony was committed.

We'll never know.  It wasn't a republican that broke the law they were sworn to uphold, then try to use their powers as an officer of the court to try to bully her way out of trouble.  That was a democrat doing that.

Translation: I know corruption takes place in all political parties, but im too biased, or naive to admit that about my party.

The problem is, even if he wouldn't, it doesn't really change anything.

Are you reading what you're writing? Instead of acknowledging that a wrong was committed by a public official, you choose to engage in hypotheticals. But let's ask: Do you think the official violated public trust to the extent of termination?

Yes, I do read what I write.

Yes the DA was wrong for the DUI and should be held accountable.

Now along with your BFF, FBT do you have the courage to answer the same question I posed to him?

Would Perry have taken the same stance if this person was a Republican?

If you are scared or reluctant to answer the question, just admit it. Dancing around the question will only continue needless chatter.

You insist in leading your argument with a completely hypothetical question that would be perceived in an utterly subjective manner by you. You think you're getting over when in fact you look silly. I've based my argument on facts and sound ethical judgment. You base yours on an almost petulant assumption.

Again, the political paralysis in this country resides in people like you who choose to engage assumptions rather than fact. You instantly assumed an 'us against them' mentality when a public official of a different political persuasion than yourself made a judgment against one of your own. Ineffective government and partisan political pandering, meet JFC's mirror.

So you cant answer the question right?

Again, there is political corruption on both sides. I asked you a very plain simple question. You gave an expected answer that danced around my question.

You're really reaching here to try to play the "everyone does it" game.  The bottom line here is that I've never made any such claim that corruption only exists in one party.  It just so happens that in THIS instance, the corrupt piece of garbage is someone you agree with politically.  Deal with it.

The funny thing is, if a republican did this, they more than likely would have resigned.  Democrats never consider that option until they've been ordered to do so.

You know what's so amazing, I actually stated in my previous response to you that the DA should be held accountable for her actions,

You gloss or just completely ignore it by saying I am "reaching".

Somehow, you tried to figure out a way to spin this into me agreeing with her actions.

This is amazing. I cant wait to see what other tricks you have up your sleeve.
