What Makes You Think Teddy Bridgewater Is The Answer?
|
Quote:The games I have been him play against good defenses he has not be good enough to say hey that's our guy...I mean Carr put up 5 TDs and 400+ passing yards on Rutgers and I feel like he should have been able to do me if he is "the guy". Maybe I'm looking into this to deep but why take a chance on a guy that HAS to start just like gabby did...Bridgewater can't handle that any better then gabby...No, you're not looking into it deep enough. Carr threw 73 (!!!) times in that game, for a very pedestrian 6.2 YPA. Teddy's 310 yards on 31 attempts look better now? Extrapolate those attempts out and Teddy would've rolled up over 700 yards on them. You just failed your Scouting 101 lesson on why you watch the film and not the box scores. Quote:Guys are who they are. If you need a perfect offensive line to be a good quarterback than you aren't the right guy. Too many recent instances of rookie QB's starting on day one to think that anyone needs that much time on the sideline. This is one thing that I hope our fan base as a whole has learned over the past several years. I remember in the beginning of the Gabbert regime and even all throughout the Leftwich/ Garrard regimes, people would always bring up the "if he only had a better OL"..... As you say....in the NFL you simply rarely have consistent clean pockets, you just don't. Good QB can & do make the best of what they have and can still make big plays and win. Bad QB don't. Its really that simple.
Quote:Bridgewater is ONE of the answers. He'd be a franchise qb for this team, which in turn, makes him an answer. Johnny Football and Aaron Murray would also be answers for this team as well.. For me in my opinion, its a Coke vs Pepsi thing. I don't care which qb we get in the draft, cause they're all better than that Check cola we have playing QB now..This is not even close to a Coke vs. Pepsi thing. That comparison is about personal preference, not each company's ability to make better soda. Exactly how is Aaron Murray an answer if he is not being hyped up as the best quarterback in the SEC? I don't know how good he is, but would never put him in the same breath as Bridgewater.
Bridgewater is such a bum but what's worse is we have these weekend warriors acting like lobbyists that think they know what they're talking about as if he's the next Elway. At the end of the year he might not even be the number three QB on the board. Dude plays straight scrub teams and has issues all night long and you maroons straight shrug it off like Bridgewater's your older brother.
Hopefully some team is dumb enough to ship off a bunch a picks like RGIII but I'm not buying that. No one is as dumb as the Jags organization as a whole, so I'll just leave that to thinking, wishful thinking.

Who is the best qb in the SEC then? All the pundits are saying Murray from what I understand. I love the way Murray plays. We show less advertisements to registered users. Matty Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Steve Young..... You sound like you know what you're talking about though so I will let you continue.
Something I have found weird is.....
Murray is the QB that gets questioned all the time regarding his size & the next level (NFL)... But when I watch Bridgewater play - HE looks short/ frail, and when I watch Murray play, he doesn't have that appearance. Might just be some sort of optical illusion or something, but its just something I have noticed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
OK all you Bridgewater fans.. you will be the same guys saying 3 years from now how bad he sucks and he's a bust blah blah blah....good luck with that #1 pick
Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive about what could go right!!!
He'll still be a starter by his fourth year....instead of out of the league like your Tebow.....pluck duck
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It really doesnt matter how good Teddy is. Or who I, TMD or anyone else things should be the best QB for the JAGS. It is all based on what Caldwell thinks and the scouts. Mind you the same scouts that helped pick BG and many other Gene Picks. With Caldwell willing to give up somthing for draft picks i would not be suprised to see him gather more picks by trading out of the 1st if he doesnt really believe in Teddy.
I've now watched a couple of his games to figure out what all the hoopla is about, and the kid throws a decent pass, and he has good pocket presence, but there's just something there I can't quite get excited about with him. I'm not a proponent of using the level of competition as a guide, but I watched the Rutgers game last night, and I came away completely unimpressed. I found it more annoying listening to Palmer and crew constantly blowing him up into some mythical being.
There was one particular play where Bridgewater had pressure coming directly at him and he threw this wounded duck up there and short armed the pass so badly that it was at least 5 yards short of the intended receiver, and darn near intercepted. And the pressure wasn't really there yet. He knew he was going to get hit, so he just flicked it out there instead of stepping into it and throwing the ball. He can clearly throw all the passes, but I'm wondering how effective he can be when he's getting pounded at the next level on every play? Maybe it's not an issue, but when I'm hearing the analysts talking him up so much, and I see people on this board acting as if he's a once in a decade talent, and then I see what I saw last night, I start to wonder. My guess is that all the bluster about him being the top QB in the draft will dissipate as we get closer to the combine/pro day window as other QBs start to show their abilities. If we wind up with the first pick, I'm not sold on Bridgewater being the savior for this franchise at QB. We'll see what he does the rest of the way, but against Rutgers, he looked awfully pedestrian. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I've got a good friend who is an LSU alum, and his son attends currently. He's been telling me to keep an eye on Mettenberger for a while now, and against the top rated defense in the SEC, it'll be a good indicator of how good he might be. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Wasn't that the same thing people said about Kaepernick?Based on how Kaepernick has been playing of late, maybe they were right? Defenses seem to have him figured out all of a sudden. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Something I have found weird is.....Oddly enough, when I was watching the game last night, I came away with a similar impression of Bridgewater. He looks smallish. No doubt, the kid has the arm to make the passes, but I think this "Teddy" hype is possibly a little over the top. There are some good quarterbacks coming out of college in the draft this year. I'm not convinced yet that he's the answer for this team. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
