Is Suh even going to play?


 

The Jags pass blocking has been OK. The big problem is with run blocking.

 

Barring something totally unexpected,  Ndamukong Suh will be playing against the Jaguars in the upcoming pre-season game.   Suh has been extremely durable since coming to the Lions in 2010.

 

 The two major questions regarding the Lions Defensive Line for this pre-season game are;

 

1)   Is Ziggy Ansah going to play?    Ansah was on the PUP list until early last week.   He didn't play in the Lions 2nd pre-season game,  in Oakland.  Ansah did more in practice today than any time since coming off the PUP list.   However,   Jim Caldwell said earlier this week that the decision whether to play Ansah in this game won't be made until much later in the week.

 

2 )  Will Nick Fairley regain his starting job or will C.J. Mosley start opposite Suh for the 2nd straight pre-season game?    Fairley was in the doghouse because he put on weight during training camp,  which isn't easy to do.  Also,  he wasn't practicing well and didn't perform well in the Lions first pre-season game vs. the Browns.   Fairley seems to be improving his effort on and off the field but motivation remains a major concern with him.   Either way,  the DT's will be rotated though.

Injuries happen, whether it's on natural or field turf.  Since the team plays a couple of games a year within their own division on FieldTurf, they'd better get used to it.

A TV is definitely getting destroyed if something happens to Blake this game.

It's not green fuzz over concrete, but it's still not as forgiving as natural turf.  I'm sure the equipment guys are well versed in making sure they have the correct equipment to counter the risks.

Probably just getting him enough plays to have some film to use in trade negotiations.
