Seriously though, if you don't completely spazz out one way or the other, you're a homer in the book of a bibber. If the team is 0-5, you are not allowed any projection or any big picture look at WHY the team is in that spot. You had better start spazzing mister. Just as soon as the team becomes a contender, you must trade the diapers for pom-poms and cheer like you were a die hard all along.

Listen dude,  I listened to your kind ra ra ra during the whole Gene Smith era and preach a patient and act like nobody should be concerned for the health of the team.  If you want to keep the bibber act up then just go ahead.

 

I will say that most of the people that you and the others on here called "bibbers"  were right and the "homers" were wrong.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke. 

 

Making a 2-14 actually worse is not a good way to start his career here unless he planned on tanking before this season got started.  He Knew we didn't have a QB and decided to ride it out with Henne/gabbs. 

 

I don't know what his thought process was but we are in the worst shape this franchise has been in right now.  I don't think he did nearly enough to help this team be successful this season.

 

When you read the phrase "committed to building through the draft" over and over again in all of the articles about Caldwell  - what in the world did you think that meant??  

 

LOL.  It's not a quick fix, man.  If you are gonna actually build through the draft and the former GM left you with  a bunch of overpaid/underproductive FAs and a handful of draft busts - it has to get worse before it gets better.  That's where they're at.

The truth is IDK if Caldwell will be the guy to bring this franchise back up.  It is alot to ask a fanbase who has already had to watch 6 poor seasons before to continue to be patient.  Time will tell

The front office has been clear that they're building through the draft.  Never once mentioned building through free agency, or using it to turn things around quickly because that's not the approach they've chosen.

I think you mean 2nd round.  I wanted Geno Smith too.  Especially when he fell to the secondround.  He's better than any QB on our current roster.  Will you be able to say the same in two years from now?  Let's not forget that Mark Sanchez had some success with the Jets as well.  Time will tell how Geno Smith will do.

You admitted you don't know if Caldwell is the guy to turn things around.  Clearly you're not smart enough to recognize that you're basically agreeing with my point about being patient.  I'd try to post this in Crayola to allow you to grasp the concept, but it's far more entertaining to watch you repeatedly show the world just how clueless you are.  Keep flailing.

There are some here who are pre-programmed to hate every move this franchise makes, especially if it doesn't involve signing an overpriced, over hyped free agent they want. They don't have the patience to allow anything to develop. If there's not instant gratification, they complain incessantly.


This rebuilding process is going to be interesting to watch. But, it requires people to set realistic expectations for where the team will be now, in the next few months, a year from now, and 5 years out. I didn't anticipate them being very good this year. I'm certainly disappointed in the perfect game we're pitching currently, but I can tolerate it knowing good things are coming.


I tend to like the approach they're taking. It's not the quick fix some here would prefer. But, it's an approach that allows them to build the team for the long haul to succeed. If their moves pan out, the naysayers will have less and less to whine about until they're relegated to complaining about the lack of glitter in the uniforms. If the approach and the evaluation process Caldwell is following prove to be the right ones for this organization, they won't have much more to get angry about.

Agreed. But Caldwell has made some questionable moves. Not getting a RT in a strong RT free agency and also seems like he traded Monroe without really testing the market. I think you can reasonably criticize him for some moves up to this point. I'm willing to give 2-3 years depending on how next years draft and free agency goes.

It's irrelevant who was ultimately right.  You still have to allow things to play themselves out before you can judge whether one GM or coach is right or not.  You can't simply start out demanding he satisfy your wants as a fan on a message board, and if he doesn't, you'll howl constantly that he should be fired. 

 

People who expected this team to be any better than it has been, and they're already trying to portray the coach or GM as being on the hot seat don't have the football IQ to recognize what they inherited, or what their approach is to fixing what ails this franchise.  All they know how to do is complain regardless of what move is made.  They refuse to allow something to work itself out to an ultimate conclusion.  What if Caldwell's approach gives us 7-9 wins next year, and a playoff berth in year 3?  Those same naysayers will continue to complain.

 

And about those naysayers.  They crucified Shack Harris, but the team had 2 playoff appearances during his tenure, so he wasn't necessarily as bad as some here tried to portray him to be.  When he was fired, many of them actually celebrated the promotion of Gene Smith.  That turned out to be a terrible decision because the guy was a great scout, but not equipped to be the person making all the decisions. 

 

We don't know what we've got yet with Caldwell.  Time will tell.  But, the one thing that will remain consistent regardless of whether he's successful or not is that the vast majority of the naysayers will continue to find things to complain about because that's just who they are.  They use complaining to draw attention to themselves.  Anyone who exudes a positive attitude, or preaches patience is labeled a homer.
