Just start Bortles already

I wouldn't call what Rick Mirer did "playing", but point taken.

Quote:Interesting quote...

How can Gus Bradley preach competition then not start the best man at QB? Very contradictory of his philosophy.

Because smart people understand the difference here.

He's already stated numerous times that Blake not starting yet has to do about muscle memory with the reworking of his fundamentals as well as also wanting some stability regarding the OL to show itself. If it was merely a "whos better at this point in time" Blake would already be starting.

The above sounds like a 3rd grade mentality.

Quote:The funny thing is he will be starting week 1, so the likes of achilles are actually criticising the coaching staff...

LOL, they've already announced Henne as the starter.

So, Bzzzzt! Wrong again.

He injects life into a lifeless offense. He gives our offense the best opportunity for success. Should he start week 1? Maybe, not sure how comfortable I am with the offensive line. However, I expect him to be starting by week 4.

I feel like we've been in this situation before...oh wait, we have.

Coach Gus Bradley maintains that Henne is still the starter, and Bortles seems fine with that at this point.

"This has been a perfect situation for me, because it has been a stress-free learning experience," Bortles said.

Taken from the ESPN recap.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Gus Bradley wasted no time after the Jaguars' 13-12 preseason loss to Detroit Friday in declaring Chad Henne his starting quarterback for Week 1. Such has been Bradley's plan all along, with Henne ahead of rookie Blake Bortles on the depth chart.

Is it still the right course of action?

As soon as people realize they can't control when he plays this will be a lot better. The reason we are saying he will sit is not because we think he should but because the staff has repeatedly said this over and over. Even tonight the have not backed down from this stance.

Say what you will but he won't start week one. If he does great but I just don't see him being the starter in the next two weeks. The staff has made up my mind for me. I have grown comfortable waiting and I will enjoy this time watching my team grow into a true contender.

To make this transition easier for you all; I would say it would be wise for you guys to do the same.

Well, yes, but that was when we had a horses [BLEEP] as head coach...

Bradley's a tad more cerebral than Jack....

LOL, now I'm a Henne homer?? Laughing

With Henne, this team starts 0-5, baring a miracle game with multiple pick 6's. I then see Bortles getting a shot and getting 3 straight easy wins against trash opponents like TEN, CLE, and MIA.

It's almost like there is some verbal obligation the staff is trying to uphold by starting Chad. My guess is we want another year of drafting in the top 5 to sure up the offensive line and just let Henne be the meat shield.

No pain, no gain.

Except.... The front office has given its reason which has been reiterated in this thread 20 times.

Anyone who thinks Henne should start is a moron. You're capable of winning nine games behind Bortles, which may very well win the AFC South. He's not only a good QB, but he's a winner. When it's do or die, he always comes through. The Jaguars have kept a lot of games close in the past with terrible quarterbacking and lost by a single possession. Now, imagine having a good quarterback who is as clutch as they come? It's terrible to hear the fanbase and organization getting behind losing, when the can indeed make the playoffs.

LOL, no they aren't capable of winning 9 this season (even with Bortles starting all 16), and no it won't be enough to win the AFCS anyway.... Laughing

Curious how many Henne decision supporters will be sitting in the Bank in 100 degree weather in September watching Henne sling the rock around 5 yards.

I'll be there. I'd much rather watch bortles but again, I'm for the brighter future. So I understand I may have to wait.
