Just start Bortles already

Eli was never elite. Very good at times certainly, never sustained it long enough to be elite

He had 1 to Lee

Quote:Funny a NY giants fan talking about no respect for a fan base. Giants fans are literally the laughing stock of most of the state if NY because of how arrogant and uninformed they are. Every year when the season starts they're yelling and boasting about how good they are and how Eli is gonna go to the hall of fame and then every year they disappear after two weeks. Only crawling out of their hole if they make the playoffs. Otherwise its quiet as a mouse. No one knows any players outside of manning and Cruz. Just some of the worst sports fans I've ever met.
I think the fact that I signed up for a jags message board shows I'm not one of those fans. But you're correct, we have some awful fans. They're almost as bad as Jets fans. The most knowledgeable fan base in NY is actually the Bills.

After this we should take this elsewhere but manning won two super bowls on two miraculous catches. Both bad throws. The giants had great defenses and one of the best o lines in football. He's a turnover machine and mostly puts them in a hole every game. He had time tonight and played terribly. Awful decisions. Two fumbles. One really bad interception. Nassib came in and performed 10 times better with the same protection. Pretty crazy.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

The fact you signed up here I presume is just to gloat about how much you know about bortles since I assume you went to ucf.

There is always room for new jags fans but in this situation I trust the front office to handle his development correctly even over a ucf alum.

We'll see how the regular season shapes up, I expect Eli to get into form. But Nassib is actually a great player, so i don't know why you're acting like it's a big deal. I predicted him getting drafted in the first round when he first started for Syracuse. I predicted Blake in the second when he took over for Godfrey at UCF. Obviously I was a bit off. Nassib has the potential to be a franchise QB one day, so thanks for the compliments.

You're obviously the guy nobody likes on this forum, right?

Quote:And see that's where we differ in opinion. I think that does play a role. The coaches have told me he will sit so I think he should sit. Yeah I know I'm a fan and I have me own eyes and all that crap. You know what else I realized, that after we drafted the kid I and about 98% of the other people on this board don't know jack about how to evaluate a qb.

When watching him I college I would have never thought he would adjust this fast. This is one of those moments where I trust the team on this one. You guys want to argue for the sake of arguing. Soon as this realization sits in, I think this will go a lot smoother for you guys.

Caldwell could careless what we think and that's why I like him. I think he'd sit Bortles for the year if he really wanted to, to prove his point. The guy showed me he has a pair and he has my trust in his judgement.

You make too many assumptions on what I think.

I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing. I'm arguing because in my honest opinion, Blake is ready for battle. He's ready and earned the chance to play. Simple as that.

He's going to be playing sooner rather than later. I also know he'll play "when he's ready" but that doesn't mean I have to agree with when he's ready. I trust Gus and Dave but I don't agree with every choice they make. This happens to be one I think is incorrect.

If Dave and Gus were set on Bortles sitting they sure should have found something different than Henne at QB. He'll be fine holding the clipboard for Blake but the guy simply has never been starter material.

If the team thinks Blake sitting and Chad starting is best for Bortles development then great. That doesn't mean I have to agree and it also doesn't automatically make them correct.

If Blake had huge major glaring flaws I could see the argument. If Blake seemed like he wasn't capable of handling the mental stress of the game that would be different. However he's shown us since the scrimmage that is not the case.

This is not Gabbert were dealing with here. Blake has all the things Gabbert never had, the things that make him ready to handle the starting job.

I will trust Gus and Dave but once again that does not mean I agree. I personally think Blake will be better off being able to play and learn by doing, sue me.

Henne's actually led more TD drives than Bortles this preseason.

The Colts are winning 10, minimum.

Eli Manning is not an "elite" QB. He's good, yeah.

He played well in the 2 SB's/ playoffs those years, but he's like Flacco in that regard. Neither of them are really consistently upper echelon from a year to year, week to week basis.

you know what, fine, start henne. i realize i have no power over anything that the jaguars do. so go ahead play henne. with that said, i'll see you guys when you actually want to put some points on the board and win some games. so after a few weeks and you get boo'ed or whatever and you finally put blake in, i'll be here waiting. i refuse to watch yet another season of mediocrity from the QB position. i don't want to watch it, because it's honestly super boring and depressing to be the fan of something so terrible. so coaching staff you watch it, and these people who just blindly except your decisions with a happy face because they automatically think you are right. yall can have it, call me when they put bortles in.

Fair weather much? Blake is going to play sooner or later. We know this... it's just he has had a very productive preseason and appears ready to go already but you have to trust the staff and root for whoever is in there. This team isn't going to win the Super Bowl with either QB this year so just get over it. We have some brighter days ahead.

No pain, no gain.

you say i'm a fair weather fan, but i have literally watched every single jaguar game since i can remember. i have been a fan through the good and the bad. but i becomes a time when enough is enough. if you don't have the talent to replace starters, okay fine it makes sense that they would be playing. but when you clearly have a better player sitting on the sidelines and and still start the inferior player, then i have a problem. so as i said, yall can have henne, i'll wait and watch some other team with an offense score some points. i guess i can have my bortles jersey in my closet until than.

Quote:That's great. Go to the NY giants forum and worry about your QB problems. Eli manning is awful. Maybe the giants will offer something for henne because you don't get much worse than modern day Eli.hey you guys should start nassib. I watched him play in person when I lived in NY and he's a winner.
Now why trash on this guy who only said good things about our team, and from his statement has watched more of Bortles than yourself. I'm sure it's just a kneejerk reaction on your part from all the past bashing we have received. So if you feel the need to bash me too don't waste your time will not affect me at all because above all I love the Jags.
