Sam Kouvaris is not good calling the games.

Ya think he could actually learn the roster? I think he called every player on the field Bryan Anger. Bryan Anger is #19 Sam, not #3 or #10.

Evidentially Mike Thomas is still on the team and Kelvin Taylor is a promising linebacker from FSU.

Hopefully he does not earn a spot for the season.

He's awful. Just one more game and then his little time in the spotlight is over. Hopefully it's a Mularkey situation and he gets the boot after one year.

Aaaaaaand... that's why he won't be calling any regular season games.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Kouvaris is awful in the booth.

Had to stream the game. And the lions' broadcast was so bad, I had to watch the game on mute. Kouvaris could never be that disgustingly horrible (though, he is kind of a bootlicker).

I like Kouvaris work in the past with channel 4 but I would agree he needs to stay out of the broadcast booth. It was cringworthy at times.

Absolutely horrible, Tony must have been in misery.

I still have yet to understand this sentiment.

I'm not in Sam's fan club, but I think he does a great job aside from a few mistakes on names.

He's what you want.  His work sounds like a conversation and isn't intrusive, and he weaves background information in seamlessly.

I get the feeling folks dislike the guy and mistake that for the job he does.  Nobody loves Sam more than Sam, which is why he rubs me the wrong way... but I like his broadcast.

He's not a PBP guy. He shouldn't have the job. He's not good.

He is horrible.

Frangie is just as bad.

I just turn off all the sound now. It's not worth listening to whatsoever.

I don't know why, but it doesn't bother me that much. Probably because I talk too much between plays. I hear the mistakes, but I just laugh at it, "haha he called Mike Brown 'Mike Thomas'" if I know my stuff and he goofs, I just pride myself on what I know. I can't listen to football I'm silence though

Frangie is arguably the worst of all time.

on top of being a pittsburgh homer, he has an annoying voice.

would rather jam a 10 inch needle right in the middle of my ear

Sam is awful. I don't mind Frank, but hearing him call the play a few seconds before it happened on TV was weird and driving me nuts so I turned him off as well.

Better than last year's guy. Here's a typical play call from last year:

"Henne drops into the pocket.........looking for an open receiver.........here's the throw............COMPLETE to Sanders!!!! What a great grab........he had to stretch way out for the catch............beautiful!!...........................

............................................(crickets)...........................

Oh, wait............he dropped it.

I had to chuckle at this.

I like Frangie who is better than Sexton..  Still not among the best in the NFL but I think in both cases with the total change in media coverage, Channel 4 went with Sam since it probably didn't cost them anything... He doesn't have a normal PBP gig so the call is more of a conversation with a lot of analysis on his part.   As for Frank, I'm sure he got a nice bump but it provides a link back to his normal radio show..   Frank was doing college football games on the weekends doing PBP so it's not a new thing for him...  I still will be curious how he calls the Steeler game in October with his well known Steeler bias on his radio show...

I listen to a fair amount of local broadcasts from listening in my car with my Sat Radio...  Sexton was always towards the bottom mostly because his big play calls were really bad...  There are a handful of long time broadcasters that are great to listen to on the radio...  Mean Gene for the Bucs, the Titans,Raiders, Chiefs guys(TOUCHDOWN calls!!)....  I hate the Steelers, Cowboys and Colts broadcasters because they are obnoxious homers...   Frank seems to be better about when to get excited....  But he was cutting his teeth being a neutral PBP guy for college games....  He needs to evolve into a true hometeam broadcaster..

Kouvaris and Frangie = small market hacks. Odds are we won't have to listen to either a year from now.

Which makes it one year too long.

I tend to agree. Since I didn't hear his first game, as I was at the game, I was curious what I'd think of his work.

Because of some comments here I was prepared to hear someone who just came from the dentist after oral surgery. But not so!

He did fine. He's not a national play by play guy, we all know that. And he's only doing two games, so I don't get the criticism. Sometimes it starts to sound personal regarding Sam.

And Kouvaris has to work with Boselli, who isn't exactly John Madden.

Can't wait until the season starts for  the Frangie bashing.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
