Cobb and Blue cut, Colvin to injured reserve

#41

Quote:Unless the NFL procedure was changed for the 2014 season, the answer to your question would automatically be no. Based on the procedure that has been in place in recent seasons, a player must be on the 53 man roster when the cutdown to 53 is made in order for him to be eligible to be the one player a team can place on IR with designation to return.
No reason to rush Colvin back anyways. Let him take his reps and compete for a starting spot next season.

I think a 4th round redshirt corner is kind of too high, but that's just me.

He better be AT LEAST as good as Gratz when he starts playing to be worth it IMO.

Colvin was going to be put on the IR as soon as he was drafted. Everyone knew that.

A little disappointed that the player I got to announce in the draft isn't going to see the field this year Sad

That said, if it means he has a long and successful Jags career it's all good Smile

I definitely agree that the focus should be on the future for Aaron Colvin. While Colvin will be limited in what he can do from a team perspective in practice this season because he's on I.R., he can still benefit from watching his teammates practice and the classroom work. Next off-season, barring a setback, Colvin should be well equipped to compete in practice, with the expectation of him at least competing to be the team's primary nickel back in 2015.

I know and respect where you are coming from. But when considering that Gus Bradley rated Aaron Colvin as the 2nd best CB in the 2014 Draft for the Jaguars purposes, it's easy to see why the decision was made to take Colvin in the 4th Roumd.

Accoring to DiRocco, Colvin isn't being placed on IR, but rather going on what sounds like the PUP list.

One more move: The Jaguars are finished with this round of cuts and have 76 players on the roster but will move rookie cornerback Aaron Colvin to the reserve/non-football injury list on Tuesday. He won’t count against the roster total at that point. Colvin, who suffered a torn ACL during Senior Bowl practices, cannot practice for six weeks after the season starts. The Jaguars could then decide to activate him or place him on IR.

Here's a quote from Wikipedia that backs that up.

"During the preseason, the league also allows players with long-term, but not season-ending, injuries to be placed into one of two designations: physically unable to perform (PUP), for injuries sustained during the previous season or during training camp, or reserve/non-football injury, for injuries sustained outside of team or league activities (despite the name, this includes lingering injuries from college football play, should an injured player be drafted and join the team. Both designations are functionally identical in that the player can be promoted to the active roster by week 6 of the regular season or placed on injured reserve."

I wondered how you could possibly defend your original statement.

Going with the strawman I see. Good choice.

Can you give me a breakdown of Gratz's play? I would love to read it.

Someone a little bitter about Cobb being cut. First cuts no less.

If Aaron Colvin is placed on the regular season PUP list, that means he was never taken off the Training Camp PUP list. Reading the earlier part of the thread, I assumed that Colvin practiced with the Jaguars this summer. Apparently, that's not the case, based on the info you provided, as once a player is taken off the Training Camp PUP list, he's not eligible for the regular season PUP list.

Colvin was expected. He will be like a brand new draft pick next year.

You actually have to be a jaguars fan to announce though.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

LOL. I'd pay to see him announce a 5'8" 170 pound receiver in the 4th round. :teehee: :teehee:

I don't recall him being taken off, but I could be wrong. I tend to believe the team wants to sit him for as long as they can, but get him some practice and possibly game action late in the year.

Quote:I think you miss the point. It doesn't matter what TMD says, Its his freaking opinion. LET HIM HAVE IT. Ignore it. Refute it. Whatever. You are a freaking admin, You are supposed to act better, Not be the first one Jawing off

Am I seriously the only one on this blasted board that can agree to disagree and not attack someone personally for their opinions? I've disagreed with TMD plenty of times but I never personally attack him for it.
Listen here Rook, when you post over 50k posts and harness the ability to turn the most intellectual people into bumbling idiots who are apt to crawl into the fetal position while wearing only your whitey tighties and with questionable yellow stains on your wife beater, then you can preeeeeettty much do what you want. But I admire your "making a name for yourself" by targeting said poster. Excuse me, I have a corner of the floor I must crawl back to.
