Saline spray at night before bed helps keep the sinuses from drying up on ya.

My house has an approx 11,000 BTU wall unit air conditioner, one that I've had for quite awhile, and I think the compressor just went (or recently anyway). 

 

All I am getting right now i the "fan" running, and every now and then it sounds like the compressor is trying to rig up, but it lasts about 5 seconds and then fades out to nothing....

 

Anyone familiar with this sort of thing happening? 

 

I'm guessing replacing the compressor isn't even cost effective at this time and I'll have to shell out the friggin dough to buy a brand new one, right?....

I'm Extremely Late to this game but I'm an career Industrial Refrigeration Tech. and this is my fortee... Have you considered that your Capacitor is bad? It may be a single or dual Start Cap to which enhances the power of the compressor and the condenser fan motors simultaneously. I'd start there and rule by process of elimination(s)...


There are several circumstances that will be in effect to your deficiency...
