White unarmed youth shot and killed by Black Police Officer

#21

Quote:So the point is that media bias caused the riots in Missouri, and the lack of national media coverage explains the lack of unrest in Utah?

The first reports I saw or read of the Ferguson, MO incident was of the rioting that broke out the day after the shooting. That's an awfully fast turnaround to be placing the blame on media coverage
Media bias caused the riots? I'm pretty sure it was a group of social instigators who saw an opportunity and took full advantage of the situation. The media came along for the ride once they thought they had an angle to pull a Trayvon 2.0.

Now, did media coverage PROLONG the situation in Ferguson? Sure seems that way now. Once they lost interest, things died down pretty quickly.

The lack of national media coverage in Utah probably has something to do with the fact that it's just not an interesting story.

Exactly. The odds of you getting killed by a cop go down significantly if you're abiding by the law. Accidents do happen, but it's rare.

I'm not sure if your response was in contradiction to mine as we agree on the genesis of the riots. The trouble that ensued is more of a chicken or egg question, did the riots continue due to the media coverage or did the media coverage continue because the rioting did, too?

Don't care about either, personally. Cop shot a criminal in both cases. Oh well, it happens.

As far as the rioting goes, animals will be animals. All races and eras of people have done it throughout the history of Man. Just don't do it on my lawn, or I will do what both of those cops did to you.

Anyone who comes to my home is treated exactly how they act, both good and bad. I live by that rule, and I sleep like a baby too.

I wonder why.

Glad we are pointing out the vast and socially significant problem of black cop on white victim crime.

Really great point.

I'm sure this illustrates the long history of the same.

I know white people have to worry about this everywhere.

Geez people. I guess black folk should just ignore current problems and forget about past ones.

So if a white cop shoots a black person, it's has to be racism? Right?

Nope.

But it often is. And if you want to turn a blind eye to an unarmed teenager getting shot and killed in the streets, without blinking that blind eye, and be perfectly content with that happening, then that is a shame.

We have thousands and thousands of soldiers who have died to protect our rights and freedom, yet we are completely unconcerned when others who are charged with upholding our laws take the ultimate step in stealing every right from someone, and then several someones.

I know, I know....it could never happen to you....right?

Why people aren't concerned when the "peacekeepers" show up and make things exponentially worse, is beyond reason.

We just accept it. We have turned to gutless, cowardly, sheep who are afraid to hold anyone accountable.

"Exactly" huh? I guess that depends on where one lives, for just one thing.

Since in your words, shootings by white police officers of black suspects is "often" because of a racial thing, can you give us a couple of examples? Was this thug in Ferguson shot because he was black, or could it possibly be that he was a danger to the police officer involved and the community?

Also, I'm so sure that people started rioting and looting because the police showed up.

No substance. I don't believe you can back any of that up.

In 2008, the FBI concluded that 765,000 sworn police officers (now at approximately 900,000) were employed at 18,000 different departments. The officers shot and kill 410 people that year. Non-law enforcement killed 310. Considering that officers have more interactions with violent criminals on a more frequent basis, that number isn't high at all. For example, the Bureau of Justice estimates that approximately 45 million police encounters occur every year between civilians and law enforcement. From those 45 million, approximately 400 people die every year. That number has stayed around 400 every year since about mid-1990s. Considering population growth, the total percentage of police-involved shootings has decreased overwhelmingly.

In 2013, there were over 58,000+ attacks on police. Over 15,000 resulted in injuries.

They also concluded that less than 1/10 of 1% of all use-of-force was deemed unjustified or excessive.

From 1999 - 2011, more white people were killed by police (2151) versus black people (1130). Considering that minority neighborhoods, in particular black neighborhoods, have the highest crime percentage, then it shouldn't be all that surprising that police are more likely to shoot and kill you than the total percentage of the population you represent.

The county that I work in provided a detailed map of crime statistics. The overwhelming trend shows that black people are stealing, robbing, burglarizing, and murdering their own communities more than anyone else. When you do that to your own community, of course police are going to interact with you more often. More police interactions with criminals usually result in more dangerous situations.

So, please. Explain why police are targeting black men.

Instead of blaming the easy target, how about focusing on accountability?
