Any chance Jerry Sullivan could reclamate Stephen Hill?.....

A point can still be taken despite not responding to the rest of the post....

Okay, so what was your response to the rest of the post since you must have used your invisible keyboard skills to respond.

How in God's name did y'all keep this conversation going?

Anyway...

Quote:I've been staying clear of most of TMDs posting lately as I don't dig all of the "piling on" that's been happening to him lately.  But it's instances like the above that will usually cause me to chime in.  That part is annoying, especially when "he doesn't write his posts, the coaches/players do."

Annnnnnnnyway,  what was the topic again?  Oh yeah, Hill.  I thought he was an interesting boom or bust prospect before that draft.  I even stated that I wouldn't be upset if we took him because his upside was so freakish. But - his future is looking bleak at the moment.

If anyone could fix him, it'd be Sully, but I'm not optimistic enough to risk much finding out. Especially when our receiving corps is finally showing promise.

The other thing about Hill is that the window for bringing him in seems as if it has closed. OTAs and Training Camp are over, and the "learning" takes a bit of a backseat to "preparation" now. With that being the focus, I'm not sure how much Sullivan can really focus on developing Hill. Especially since he seems to need work in flat out catching the ball.

I don't know that I would like the team to sacrifice Sullivan's time to develop when his efforts are most likely better suited towards helping the team design a gameplan.

This is true, excellent point.

In one season starting only 4 games, Ace has more catches than Hill had in two years with several more starts. We don't have enough guys that can get 20-25 catches a year?
Only a chump boos the home team!

Well, the idea is that Sullivan fixes up Hill and makes him a bit more productive than 20-25 catches a year based on the elite potential there....

If the thought was that Hill would flatline and produce similarly as he has with the Jets, here, then the people suggesting the Hill idea, wouldn't be.....

Its not that hard of a concept to get.

Go to a Jets forum and float this asinine argument.

So there are no bad suggestions if you actually believe it?

I think that's pretty much the thought here.

Well, as long as it's him making the suggestion, he'll never see it as a bad one.  The rest of us?  Different story.

Both are equally important.

No, they aren't.

Talent trumps coaching.  You don't earn Michelin stars without beginning with the highest quality ingredients.  That's the very foundation upon which all else rests.  But then, you're more fast food than fine dining so I wouldn't expect you to understand the importance.

Your biggest mistake is completely misunderstanding the question, and happily rewriting it to fit your own agenda.

Players, not plays.  That's the answer.  Yet, you have no clue what the question is.

"You do your own thing in your own time. You should be proud."

A game where Hill should have shined going up against the Eagles backups...1 catch 13 yards.

He had 2 targets so he probably didn't play all that many snaps.

But thats ok, keep trying.....

Oh, and Matt Barkley 21-33, 270 yards, TD pass. TD run.

He didn't get many snaps. LOL!

What's his excuse for the three other preseason games?

I'd take a flier on him. You can't teach that kind of size, speed, and athleticism. If anybody can light a fire under Hill's butt it's Sullivan. How often do late round picks turn out? Low risk, high reward.

Barkley looked great against third and fourth stringers including multiple guys that are going to be working at winn Dixie next weekend.

Hill only had two targets because he didn't get open.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

When are you going to have the time to coach all of the other things?
