Any chance Jerry Sullivan could reclamate Stephen Hill?.....

Just keep your focus man. You'll get to the end eventually.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Sanders for Hill?

Honestly, I don't think Sanders will ever develop into anything more than depth. So anything involving him is on the table once we get a replacement for that specific spot. Doss is a possibility but I want to see in a real game before we just hand over Sanders for an experiment.

Truthfully, I hope im wrong about sanders.

Oh, and Matt Barkley 21-33, 270 yards, TD pass. TD run.

Hill actually played most of the first half.

Well, then he probably wasn't targeted because the QB wasn't looking his way.  There has to be someone to blame other than Hill.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Not really. Hill has completely sucked in New York. The OP is suggesting that a change of scenery plus working with one of the best WR coaches in the game could possibly net a great return on investment. Much crazier things have happened.

I'm starting to wonder how many of you would have been completely against the Jimmy Smith signing. He was an injury prone receiver that had already been cut by two teams (Dallas and Philly). Sometimes talent trumps everything, especially when you have an elite coach at the position of interest.

That said, odds are that Hill likely isn't fixable, but the huge potential return on investment is worth the small risk of a conditional late round pick.

Jimmy Smith was signed as a street free agent. If Hill is cut, sits the entire season and the team signs him next February I doubt anybody will care.

So would you have been irate if the Jaguars gave up a conditional 7th round pick for Jimmy Smith?

He was a street free agent. He cost nothing.

I realize that. Would you agree his value turned out to be well worth a conditional late round pick? Sometimes that extremely small risk could be well worth the reward.

Two targets: One catch and one drop.

"Hill played most of the first half in the New York Jets' 37-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. But he was targeted just twice, with one reception for 13 yards and one dropped pass."

If Hill makes the Jets 53 it'll be on potential alone, he's been outperformed by just about every other receiver they got

Oh.. And Derek Carr 11 - 13 143 yrds and 3 TDs.

Actually, he played an entire half, as has been noted here. Even still, if he was so great, why wouldn't he have played more snaps? And if he's so great, why wasn't the QB looking his way?

A few key differences:
  • Jimmy Smith was a street free agent signing, not a trade or a season-opening waiver claim at the expense of a receiver who had actually produced at the pro level.
  • Smith was not a case of a player underachieving. He was a guy who'd been injured and kept off the field. That's a big contrast to Hill, who's been on the field this whole time and has half the production per year of Ace to show for it. Jimmy was hurt; Hill sucks.
  • If Hill bounces around rosters this year, sits on his thumb some more with the Jets or spends 2014 out of the league, I would not at all be opposed to bringing him in in February, like how the Jags got Jimmy, and letting him show what he can do (or, more likely, get cut after post-draft OTAs). I would be opposed to cutting a receiver who knows the offense and has a history of producing in it on the eve of the regular season so we can waste a spot on a draft bust.
I'd like to add one final piece to this equation: I would not be opposed to bringing Hill in on waivers to be the 53rd man while Ace is out. If he's got any measurable talent to him, he should be easily able to beat Brown, Doss or whoever to hold that final receiver spot once Ace returns. But trading or cutting Ace so that Hill can be a part of this team? No. Just no.

Did you really just say that Stephen Hill has been on the field the whole time and hasn't battled injuries? Please leave this discussion.

He was inactive five times in 2012 and four in 2013. Jimmy played seven games in his first season and zero in his second. Slight disparity there, no?
