Anyone Else Starting To Think Lee Might Bust?

Who cares?

Was Sullivan here when Jimmy Smith was here?  He seemed to do fine without him.

You don't just simply learn how to catch.  I don't care who is coaching you.

This franchise has had 33 7th round picks and roughly 4 of them have amounted to anything of value over their NFL careers.

That is a 12% success rate.

I give Jerry Sullivan a higher than 12% chance of turning a 2nd round WR with elite size/speed/athleticism into something of value. He doesn't have to be Jimmy Smith to make it worth it, he just has to be better than guys like Jeris Pendleton.

Jimmy Smith was elite. Stephen Hill doesn't have to be elite to make his potential value worth more than a 7th round pick.

Well then I fully expect to see Dave Caldwell make a deal with the Jets in the next 6 weeks or so for Hill so the Jags can get him together with Sullivan and "reclamate" his career.

The odds of a deal happening aren't likely, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Don't tell that to Denard Robinson.

You made that up. Kotite has never said anything about his hands.

Here is what an actual scout for the eagles had to say. http://eaglesblog.net/2013/05/interestin...mmy-smith/

The mods just need to ban him permanently.

The season is about to start and we can't even discuss our players without him trolling every thread with a bunch of garbage he makes up.

It will never happen. They enjoy the banter too much.

But his trolling definitely makes the board unreadable.

He has already gotten himself suspended for an entire season for doing this same crap. There is no point in letting him back. He's not going top change.

It's easier to ignore him in the dead zone time of year because there is nothing to talk about. The problem is he cranks his trolling up to another level when there is actual football to talk about.

Kick him out around the draft and when games are being played or roster decisions are being made. Leave that time for the people who actually want to discus jaguar football.

Because that was the same situation.

TMD may or may not have made that up. But the publicly stated reason can be a lot different from the real reason. Your link does not refute TMD's claim.

Sad to see he was dealing with those demons so early in his career and couldn't completely shake the habit.

Perhaps TMD should provide a link backing his claim.

Funny how the scout appears to be completely unaware that there was any concern with Jimmy Smith's hands and he was a guy in the organization at the time.

There wasn't a publicly stated reason. Have you ever heard a coach come out and say that about a player after final cuts? No, because they don't.They say something PC and wish the player luck.

If you look at what the media had to say after the cut, it was considered a surprise cut and a head scratcher. No reason was ever given by Kotite at least with the media. Considering TMD was very unlikely to be privy to information not shared with the rest of the world, you can only conclude it was a fabrication.

Don't you know that talent has NOTHING to do with NFL success? It's 100% coaching according to TMD. Jerry Sullivan can turn me into a Pro Bowler if they'd just sign me. Duh.

I have no idea why the Eagles cut Jimmy Smith. All I know is that prior to the 1994 season, Jimmy Smith was cut by two NFL teams. Smith worked out for three more (Green Bay, Kansas City, and New England) but none of them called him back. I'm glad Tom Coughlin saw the low-risk/high-reward and took a flier on Smith.

I did find this, though:

http://articles.philly.com/1994-08-08/sp...y-pasquale

"Smith, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound free agent who signed with the Eagles on July 19, also caught two passes for 32 yards, though he dropped two others that were catchable."

First off, there didn't have to be actual concern about his hands in order for Kotite to say so.

As far as the rest, I have no idea what was said about Jimmy Smith, he and the Eagles were totally off my radar in 1994. I do know that Buddy Ryan made up some lame excuse about Cris Carter instead of discussing his drinking problem, so such a thing is not without precedent. Also, if he was a 'surprise cut and a head scratcher' I'd expect the media to keep asking Kotite why he was cut, so it's not unreasonable to believe that Kotite finally came up with his own lame explanation.

I'm just saying that people shouldn't claim another poster is lying based on evidence that can't refute what was said.
