Like I mentioned yesterday, I fully expect them to make a move for Hill to get him working with Sullivan ASAP.  I mean if it is so much low risk high reward then they should be all over it.  No?

 

I think it would be a good idea and a low risk worth taking, but who knows if it will happen. I also thought it was a good idea to draft J.J. Watt (saw him a lot over his college days) over a spread QB in 2011, but that didn't happen. Not every thing that is a good idea happens.

Hey, people are free to disagree with the point I'm making. When they misrepresent the point I'm making, despite being spoon-fed the point, then I question their intelligence. I'm not saying Hill will be as good as Smith. I'm merely stating that sometimes the low risk, high reward moves can pay dividends. I'm also stating that Sullivan didn't randomly wake up with the reputation of an elite WR coach. If anyone could get something out of Hill, it would be Sullivan. If even Sullivan can't get something out of him, the effect it has going forward is minimal.

 

I think the people that don't want Hill here/ aren't receptive to the idea are people who are scared of a Hill addition eventually bumping off one of their favorite players like Shorts/ or Sanders off the roster. They care more about preserving their favorites here than the possibility of striking gold with Hill.

There is little reason to believe Stephen Hill will ever be successful in the NFL. Some guys just don't have it.

 

There are examples all the time of players who initially struggle with one team before getting their act together on another team. 

 

Usually in those cases better coaching (which we have in Sullivan) is instrumental in the turnaround.

The only 2 teams that can get Hill over us despite us putting a claim in is Houston or St Louis, (and both teams could reasonably make that move)

I doubt anybody was against signing Jimmy Smith as a street free agent 20 years ago. Going to guess most people had no idea who he was.

He only has to be better/ project better than the player he'd be replacing. 

 

Hill > Mike Brown. 

 

Also 23 y/o compared to 25.

 

Hill has size and great straight line speed. But Brown is actually much quicker and hasn't been playing WR long.

 

Hill's been given every chance to show more than he has but has come up short.

I'd hope a guy who's been playing WR since HS is better than one that's only been playing it since 2012...but that's not the case here. He's just bigger and faster.

 

If anyone could turn that bigger, faster, more athletic player into a better WR, it's Jerry Sullivan. That what makes this low risk/high reward move so enticing. Like I said, Sullivan didn't just wake up with his reputation today. There is a reason he is so highly viewed.

After looking at his injury history I don't think Hill still possesses the same speed he had in college.
