Any chance Jerry Sullivan could reclamate Stephen Hill?.....

Watt (saw him a lot over his college days) over a spread QB in 2011, but that didn't happen. Not every thing that is a good idea happens. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Hey, people are free to disagree with the point I'm making. When they misrepresent the point I'm making, despite being spoon-fed the point, then I question their intelligence. I'm not saying Hill will be as good as Smith. I'm merely stating that sometimes the low risk, high reward moves can pay dividends. I'm also stating that Sullivan didn't randomly wake up with the reputation of an elite WR coach. If anyone could get something out of Hill, it would be Sullivan. If even Sullivan can't get something out of him, the effect it has going forward is minimal. I think the people that don't want Hill here/ aren't receptive to the idea are people who are scared of a Hill addition eventually bumping off one of their favorite players like Shorts/ or Sanders off the roster. They care more about preserving their favorites here than the possibility of striking gold with Hill.
Say the Jags put a waiver claim in and we aren't awarded him.....would we even know it?

Usually in those cases better coaching (which we have in Sullivan) is instrumental in the turnaround. Quote:That would be like saying the Jaguar should sign an Arena League QB who couldn't make it in the NFL because Kurt Warner or drafting a QB in the 6th round because Tom Brady. Again, that's what people were probably saying about Jimmy Smith after he was cut by two teams in 1994 and failed to get phone calls returned from the other three teams he worked out for. Sometimes low risk/high reward moves pay dividends.
Quote:Say the Jags put a waiver claim in and we aren't awarded him.....would we even know it? The only 2 teams that can get Hill over us despite us putting a claim in is Houston or St Louis, (and both teams could reasonably make that move)

I doubt anybody was against signing Jimmy Smith as a street free agent 20 years ago. Going to guess most people had no idea who he was.
Quote:I doubt anybody was against signing Jimmy Smith as a street free agenct 20 years ago. If Jimmy Smith was such a lock to succeed, then why did 5 teams pass on him in 1994? I'm sure people were saying "some guys just don't have it." Quote:He only has to be better/ project better than the player he'd be replacing. Hill has size and great straight line speed. But Brown is actually much quicker and hasn't been playing WR long. Hill's been given every chance to show more than he has but has come up short.
Quote:This is completely asinine. The only thing asinine about it are the fans that indeed operate that way. This fanbase has its sect that would rather keep a mediocre player who signed a football for their little Johnny or shook hands with after practice then sign a guy like Hill who has "superstar" ceiling because they operate in fear of Hill one day possibly bumping their player off the roster. Quote:I'd hope a guy who's been playing WR since HS is better than one that's only been playing it since 2012...but that's not the case here. He's just bigger and faster. If anyone could turn that bigger, faster, more athletic player into a better WR, it's Jerry Sullivan. That what makes this low risk/high reward move so enticing. Like I said, Sullivan didn't just wake up with his reputation today. There is a reason he is so highly viewed.

The only one seeing greatness in Hill is the diva. Of course, this is the same diva who said Hill has hands of stone, so take it for what it's worth.

After looking at his injury history I don't think Hill still possesses the same speed he had in college.

Low risk/ potential high reward. Exactly the type of player you bring in to see if our league best WR coach can't help fix.
