The only thing asinine about it are the fans that indeed operate that way.


This fanbase has its sect that would rather keep a mediocre player who signed a football for their little Johnny or shook hands with after practice then sign a guy like Hill who has "superstar" ceiling because they operate in fear of Hill one day possibly bumping their player off the roster.

Both of the Jets starting WRs last year have outperformed Hill. They seem to be developing nicely. It seems Hill is the reason for Hill's problems.

Not only didn't the Jets have Jerry Sullivan, but they also didn't have a QB with the arm of Blake Bortles, either. 

 

We got both. 

 

Both should make a positive impact on Hill, should we get him.

If Stephen Hill ever became "good", He could be that downfield speedy true #1 receiver like AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, etc. Mike Brown and Ace Sanders both have ceilings. They will never be pure starters. They are just very good depth.

 

So why not take one of those "ceiling" players and replace with it a guy who may become a #1 receiver OR will simply fail and be an easy cut? With Sullivan here, I am more inclined to make moves like this because he infinitely improves our odds of "projects" succeeding. (Cecil Shorts)

Hill has huge upside, with patience and development.  It's just my opinion, but I would rather have him than Brown as the 5th WR (or 6th WR if you count the suspended Sanders).

I think the people that don't want Hill here/ aren't receptive to the idea are people who are scared of a Hill addition eventually bumping off one of their favorite players like Shorts/ or Sanders off the roster. They care more about preserving their favorites here than the possibility of striking gold with Hill.

The only one seeing greatness in Hill is the diva.  Of course, this is the same diva who said Hill has hands of stone, so take it for what it's worth.

He's still worth taking a chance on.

And, as I said, the Jags lack a big WR after Robinson, Hill would help fill a need.

Second, who cares if he's a "big WR?" Big WR are good to have because they move the chains and are great red zone targets, but hill doesn't run anything except the deep route and he has bad hands so that negates the benefit of being tall.


Third, I highly doubt the jaguars are interested. Let the browns have him and he can flame out there too.


He can't catch and the only way the ever gets open is running the fly. He's a one trick pony that only can do half the trick.

Geno smith has a pretty good arm so that's a stretch. He can throw with zip and I watched him for 2 years at west Virginia throwing bombs all the time. He had nothing to do with hill not performing.


Maybe the problem is you can't just always throw a bomb? And maybe when you get those passes, you can't drop them all the time?

If he could do the other half of the trick, we wouldn't be having this discussion because he'd be rostered and probably starting. There are many WRs who made/make a living off being one trick ponies. Because he only has half of this Wide Receiver thing down, he is be able to had with little to no risk.

 

The Jaguars have one of the best positional coaches in all of football and he just happens to be WR coach. Why do people act like this isn't true?
