White unarmed youth shot and killed by Black Police Officer
|
Quote:No substance. I don't believe you can back any of that up. Why police are targeting black men? Its simple racial profiling when a officer randomly asks for your ID without probable cause and when you refuse you are subject to arrest for obstruction of justice. "Instead of blaming the easy target, how about focusing on accountability". LOL, How can I be more accountable by having a clean record, but pulled over for driving in a neighborhood where "I dont belong"?

Quote:The county that I work in provided a detailed map of crime statistics. The overwhelming trend shows that black people are stealing, robbing, burglarizing, and murdering their own communities more than anyone else. When you do that to your own community, of course police are going to interact with you more often. More police interactions with criminals usually result in more dangerous situations. So every single black person in the county you work in have either stolen, rob, murdered, or committed a burglary? Do you have a link?

Quote:So every single black person in the county you work in have either stolen, rob, murdered, or committed a burglary? *EDIT* Where did he say that? It sure wasn't in the part that you quoted.
Quote:*EDIT* He incorrectly generalized an entire race. Quote:

Quote:He incorrectly generalized an entire race. Not if that's what the trend shows in his county. I didn't take it as he was saying that to be Nationwide, more area wide. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Not if that's what the trend shows in his county. Correct. Which leads me back to the original question. Is there a link that he can provide of every single black person in the county he works in that has committed a crime?

Quote:He incorrectly generalized an entire race.Calling a statistical trend a generalization amounts to little more than race hustling. How would you convey those statistics in a way that wouldn't come across as offensive? They are simple statistics. Just because they don't support your argument doesn't make them a racist thing.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Quote:Correct. He never once insinuated that it was EVERY SINGLE person. You injected that on your own accord.

Quote:Calling a statistical trend a generalization amounts to little more than race hustling. Its a generalization if the person cant separate the categories, like using "some". Its has nothing to do with race hustling, just simple common sense. For the record, I never said his generalization was offensive to me, I just simply said he was incorrect. Since he didn't marginalize those statistics, he left open the interpretation for someone to believe he is referring to a race in its entirety. Quote:He never once insinuated that it was EVERY SINGLE person. You injected that on your own accord. We will see once he modifies his comment then.

Quote:So what did he say then? The comments you are asking about are his comment #40 in this thread. You insinuated that he said "ALL" in post #42. Nothing is edited in either.

Quote:The comments you are asking about are his comment #40 in this thread. You insinuated that he said "ALL" in post #42. Nothing is edited in either. That's how I interpreted his comment. He's more than welcome to clarify it if he wants, then again he dosent have to either. If he chooses the latter, then I will stand by my earlier stance which is he made a incorrect generalization simple as that.

In his county the map showed high crime in black neighborhoods what is so confusing about his statement? Your trying to spin it into a racial issue he didn't say not imply everyone in that neighborhood committed a crime. You've got to stop this race baiting it doesn't help your cause.
Quote:In his county the map showed high crime in black neighborhoods what is so confusing about his statement? "Race baiting".....really? Because im asking for a simple clarification on a statement that could have been limited specifically to a number of people by just simply including the word "some", now is turned into me "spinning" something "into a racial issue", and "race baiting". Your comment just proves my point with the problems SOME people have in this country when it comes to discussing race topics with different points of views. I am interpreting things from my own point of view, and just asked for clarification. Am I allowed to do that? Accusing someone of "race baiting" is really petty and distracts from the question or clarification I was seeking. If you are looking to try and start some sort of flame war regarding race discussions, you should try that tactic with someone else.

Quote:Why police are targeting black men? Its simple racial profiling when a officer randomly asks for your ID without probable cause and when you refuse you are subject to arrest for obstruction of justice. What kind of example is that? Has it happened before? Sure. Does it happen frequently? No, absolutely not. As for you second comment, I'm not qualified to answer that question. I wasn't there, so I don't know what happened or why it was said. I can tell you that if you're in a place with high drug-activity and certain factors come into play, then that is sufficient probable cause to stop and question you even without committing a crime. I don't know if those conditions were met, so your question is irrelevant to the conversation. He doesn't have to explain those to you, either. Quote:So every single black person in the county you work in have either stolen, rob, murdered, or committed a burglary? You know I didn't mean every single black person. You were quick to judgement. The fact is that black people victimize their own people far more often than any exaggerated claims of police brutality and statistics show that. Quote:He incorrectly generalized an entire race. No, I didn't. It would be accurate to say that you incorrectly inferred that I meant all black people. Would it be more foolish to assume I actually meant every black person or to actually think every black person fit into the category you claim I meant? Quote:"Race baiting".....really? You didn't "just ask" for clarification. You made an incorrect assumption about something that didn't need clarification in an attempt to invalidate my comment. You other comments prove as much. Meanwhile, you're unable or unwilling to provide a response to any of my points. Now, if you want to address a certain topic, then feel free to bring that one up. But, when you make that absurd claim, then what could be a legitimate conversation turns into foolishness Quote:"Race baiting".....really? Lol I'm one of the few on here that argues police do use to much force. But, you trying to frame his statement as racist because he acknowledges the fact that crime in his specific county is concentrated in black neighborhoods is race baiting. So again, asking for clarification is race baiting now?
