Quote:Oh neat. Lets book him for Canton. A guy who gets open more often than not and catches everything catchable thrown to him will always end up in canton. With that said, This is real world and Hurns has to "put up or shut up" considering hes been granted a semi-starting role as the #3. We show less advertisements to registered users. AJ Green didnt suddenly figure out how to make big plays. He did it in college.LOL. OK. I think that's absolutely ridiculous. Remind me - Why do position coaches even exist again? 21 year old professional athletes do actually improve. It's a real thing. I promise. You're just making up some ridiculous rule that doesn't exist. You never saw him catch a contested jump ball on that highlight video, so he'll never do it in the NFL. OK. Gotcha. BTW - if he keeps getting so wide open, he'll never have to. Quote:LOL. OK. I think that's absolutely ridiculous. Remind me - Why do position coaches even exist again? Some things cant be taught... like talent Quote:LOL. OK. I think that's absolutely ridiculous. Remind me - Why do position coaches even exist again? Some guys, like Logan Thomas, aren't even coached properly at their position until they make the pros. Some college systems simply don't give certain positions the preparation they'll need to play the same position at the NFL level.

Quote:Some things cant be taught... like talent Thanks, Captain Obvious. There are also guys who beat the odds and become more than any of the scouts expected. There are also the opposite... highly drafted "can't miss" talented guys who bust. What actually happens at the NFL level, not draft status or what someone achieved in college, is what matters.

Quote:Thanks, Captain Obvious. Apparently it needed to he brought up again because Hurns is not going to suddenly develop the ability to become a dynamic big play receiver. That cant be coached. Quote:He doesn't need to be a dynamic receiver. This team needs reliable outlets as much as they need the big play guy. Ya i agree. Again, this whole argument is about who is better. Imo not only is Shorts obviously more proven, he is actually more physically gifted and talented. I base it on the many reasons ive already stated. We show less advertisements to registered users. That cant be coached. As long as he's making the kind of plays he did during the preseason once the lights go on, that's dynamic enough. This team has been in need of a guy you can rely on to get past the marker on 3rd and yardage. He's shown he can make that happen. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This is why I find the attempt to diminish Shorts' abilities to be nothing more than agenda whoring by someone who views himself as a junior GM who is simply looking at a way to make Shorts seem like a viable trade candidate. Its not just him. NYC boy over here cant stop arguing that Hurns is better. To each his own i guess Quote:Its not just him. NYC boy over here cant stop arguing that Hurns is better.A - Watch your mouth when speaking of your elders. B - It's like you can't read the English language. I never said that Hurns is better. I said I think he has a little more upside and projects better long term. I'm speculating about 5 or 6 years from now. Not calling him better. Seriously. Pay attention if you're gonna get cocky there, kid. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:A - Watch your mouth when speaking of your elders. A. you don't know if you're his elder and nothing is going to happen regardless. B. In what way does he have more upside? Its not physical ability. Shorts runs very good routes. So it isn't routes...
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:A - Watch your mouth when speaking of your elders. You quoted me and tried to disagree with my points about how Shorts is better AND more talented than Hurns.... so, if you weren't trying to say Hurns is better, you were doing your best impression of making such an argument. Quote:A. you don't know if you're his elder and nothing is going to happen regardless.A. yes I do -- it was established in another thread years ago. Of course nothing is going to happen. Other than me reminding him of some basic manners. That was the point. It wasn't some internet bullying threat or something. Just simple manners. B. I already stated this earlier in the thread. He has a more natural ability to find and track the ball in the air and adjust his body or route to make the catch. Shorts struggles with balls that are not well placed sometimes - while Hurns seems to position himself to make the catch easier while the ball is in the air. I don't see what the big deal is. Shorts is great, but he's more of a really hard working craftsmen than a super gifted athlete. Hurns isn't blessed with tons of innate ability either, but i just happen to see a little more potential in the rookie. I've been a big Cecil supporter since week sixteen of his rookie year and I'll continue to be. Quote:A. yes I do -- it was established in another thread years ago. You said you never said Hurns is better.... but then you just make an argument for how he is better. The pollution up there in yankee town is getting to you buddy. You are calling him better without actually saying it. "He's not better, but he does all this stuff better and has more upside." Sounds like better to me. Quote:You said you never said Hurns is better.... but then you just make an argument for how he is will eventually beShorts is the better player right now. I think Hurns has the potential to become a better player than Shorts is right now by the time he's at the same stage in his career. (year 4) I thought I made that clear. Hope this ^ helps you understand my position. You're acting as if tense doesn't exist. The "now" and the "future" are important parts of my position on the matter. The pollution is bad up here, and I can't wait to move back home to Duval.
Shorts is the team's best receiver. He should have his best year starting with a consistent coach and scheme for the first time. Having talented WRs will benefit him and open space up for him. If he is healthy he will be on the field most passing plays, for sure.
Having Hurns, especially undrafted, is huge. If you told Jerry Sullivan before the draft that his receivers in 2014 would be Cecil, AR15, Lee, Hurns, and Brown - my guess is that he would jump for joy. If Cecil has a good first 8 games, I think he will be resigned for good WR2 money mid season. High end WR2 contract. If he does not play well there is a chance we let him walk at some point and sit back and take a compensatory pick maybe and watch the three rooks fight it out for QB targets the next few years. Assuming two of the three rookies have a strong year, and assuming Cecil stays healthy (big assumptions for sure) - this Jag receiving squad could be the best three we have had at the same time. Three good receivers would be amazing! One of the three rookies could be a total flop and we could still end up in a really good place.
Quote:LOL, not sure how you of all people can cast that stone on someone else when its clear thats what you are doing in most of your posts. Quote:Condescending voices from the MB: Took half a page... |
