Does anyone know what the official capacity is now for a Jags game?  With the NEZ being taken out and us being "tarpless" on the visitor side, what is the official number now?

That IS what it is now.  The construction reduced seating enough to remove most of the tarps.  Without the tarps the seating is now 69K and change whereas before it was about 76K.

Bingo.  I think they took out around 7200 seats with the renovation?  Now there's a stink brewing over the UF / UGA game and how much it will cost to put temporary seating in both end zones.

It was really a genius move. The tarps made the stadium capacity appropriate but it also gave the organization, the fanbase and the city a negative connotation.

Just in the westside upper deck. Will rarely be seen on TV other than overhead shots.

 

And they can be removed for any game. Will probably be removed for Giants and Steelers games I would guess.

Even on the west upper deck, I think the tarps have been reduced from 4 sections to 3.

I figured the UF/UGA game would become an issue.  Seems like with the new set up, it'll be more difficult to add temporary seating.

Roughly 2K seats are now covered, but assuming the team becomes more of a perennial contender, most likely those will be gone too.

Give it another 2 years and they'll be gone.  With the next phase of renovations including reconfiguring the club seats to reduce the inventory there by opening it up so you can see the field from inside, I would think that will help with the tarps.

Adding additional seating isn't the issue.  The decks are almost identical on either side of the stadium.  The issue is the cost involved.

Sound like they need to raise ticket prices to the FLA vs GA game.   Less supply = more demand

Economically speaking that makes sense. But I wouldn't like it!


Edit: Demand would stay the same, but the decrease in supply would move the line, thus increasing the price. But I digress

There won't be less supply with the temporary seating.  The city is obligated to have a facility that provides them with 80,000 seats for the game.  That won't be a problem.
