Gabbert made a nice pass there, but lets be real....it was about a  15 yard pass (past the LOS) and the Colts screwed up in coverage. I'd think that most of the NFL QB could/ would have made that same pass.

Mallet's not the answer, there's a reason he was acquired for literally as close to nothing as a trade can be worth.

Like I said, it's funny how the same receivers perform so much better with a different QB, yet it's the receivers fault.

As with anything else, a value is dictated by the market, i.e., supply and demand.  His value is a future 7th round pic, that's the best the Pats could do.  So no, it's not great value or "pennies on the dollar".  And by "franchise ceiling QB", that label is coming from a fan with very questionable ability to evaluate talent, not GMs, scouts and coaches around the league.
