Based on his impressive play in college, the last time he got an opportunity to be a full time starter, no.

You had an opportunity to watch both Mallet and Garoppolo throw to basically the same WRs this preseason. In your honest opinion which QB played better?


Hint: it wasn't the QB with 3 years of experience. It was the rookie who had been in the system for all of 3 months.

Usually its the one's who's college game doesn't translate well to the NFL that fail. See Tebow.


The QB that played more of a pro style in college and did so at a high level, usually translate well to the pro game. Mallett was making all kinds of NFL throws his last year of college. He's the classic dropback passer.

Of course he has shown none of those "problems" since.

Guys with elite talent like that don't drop 2 rounds because of one arrest.


Look at manziel. He had all kinds of red flags and still went round 1.


The reality is mallett was never that good and never that coveted as an NFL prospect.

If mallett truly was an elite, coveted player...especially at the QB position, he would have been drafted higher.


The third round selection shows how unheralded he was even after this stupendous college career that you and tiny dancer keep leaning on.

I think Bortles' ceiling is far higher than Luck's, and that he has the potential to be much better. But my opinion of Luck is comparatively low.

If he does though, then that's a steal for the Texans with what they paid.

I can agree with that. QBs are the toughest to judge coming out of college than any other position.

All you can do is make an educated guess as to how they'll turn out. Definitely looking forward to watching Bortles this year for sure.
