Quote:McGahee was probably put on IR because he would be out the season. Colvin is allowed to come back in week six and by week 9 they'll decide whether to put him on the active roster or IR.

The PUP list is like that. I never read NFI is the same way.

I doubt Colvin will be ready by Week 9 if his injury is a torn knee ligament.

A torn knee ligament that happened in January. By about week 9 thats 10 months of rehab. He's a young kid so he just may be able to come back.

Quote:You really think he didn't? If Doss was going to be back in two weeks, it might have made sense to just keep him on the active roster. If he's going to be out until week eight, it probably makes more sense to shut him down and have him available next season than to carry dead weight on the roster for half the season in hopes that he can contribute late in the year.

Colvin's on reserve/NFI, not IR-Return. IR-Return can only be applied to a single player per season, whereas (apparently, I didn't know this until Colvin) a player on reserve/NFI can be activated after a set amount of time if they're healthy.

Pretty sure the in-season limit is 80, not 90, for a total of 17 players on reserve lists. I know that reserve/retired doesn't count against the 80, and I doubt that reserve/suspended or reserve/left squad do, but the various health-related reserve lists definitely do. I recall Coughlin bumping into this limit in his later years here, and having to release guys from IR and run with five guys on the practice squad.
It's hard to find exact numbers but I know the have recently changed the amount of players a team has from 80 to 90 pre active roster cuts that's where 27 came from. And they have different designations that I didn't really feel like getting into but you are correct about Colvin.

What has made it more complicated is they changed the IR rules. Prior to 2012 if you were on IR you were done for the year. Since they changed it all these extra exemptions have come into play which are all almost the aNd thing but slight differences like NFI and pup list or who has the return designation from IR

...have you ever been banned or was the hiatus self-imposed?

I'm beginning to lean to the theory that you're the best troll on the board...and yes I know about the "medical" reasoning.

The only time I was ever suspended from the board, my sin was posting a link to live online streaming of a preseason game, which I did because somebody asked for it. No, I am not a troll.

If someone asked you to barbecue your cat, would you do it?

Sometimes when people ask you to do something, it's okay to just decline.  Especially when they weren't actually asking you directly.

My regular Friday lunch is at Tilted Kilt. I hear they have a lot of TV screens in there but I keep getting distracted.

But that was off topic. I got a blister from my new running shoes. I don't think I'll have to go on IRS or PUPPY.

You didn't hear about it? They added a new letter between J and K to make the ZH sound. It looks something like π.
