Captain Blake Bortles we await your regular season debut.

Quote:I love how the "elite" tag gets thrown around so much.  A quarterback is only as good as his talent AND his supporting cast.  A big portion of that supporting cast starts with the 10 other players around him on offense and ends with the other 52 besides him on the roster.
Which is precisely why I tend to think Bortles will ascend to that level.  They're building a cast around him to help him succeed.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I shamefully hope Chad has a hang nail on his throwing hand 15 minutes before kick off....

LOL. I suspect there are many younger members on here who have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Quote:Chad Henne would have to play horribly in multiple games for Gus and crew to veer off course from the current plans laid out.

The way Gus has been talking, Chad Henne would have to suffer a major injury for Blake Bortles to start this season.

See we're in this really unique position where we have a QB who could possibly be elite and we aren't playing him. While this isn't the intended purpose, it allows us to be higher on the board for better draft picks. So maybe that stud center or tight end who wouldn't be there at pick 14 will be there at pick 9 (just an example). So we have the ability to really stockpile talent and then put Bortles in and take this league by storm.

Quote:If you look at Luck's stats, he's been good, but nothing close to elite.  The media hyped him up big time coming into the league, and they will continue to prop him up because that's what they do.
I'm hoping for a Luck/Bortles rivalry that develops like the Manning/Brady duel for the next 15 years.  The anointed one against the nobody and the nobody wins when it matters.

Wait - the media praise for Luck is media hype, but the media praise for Bortles is earned?

Ugh. I hate thinking about next year's draft before we've played our first game of the season. Let me have at least some hope!

I think he was referencing the SI article that said Luck will be THE elite QB for the next decade.  Yes...that is hype.  Who knows who will be THE elite QB for the next decade?  The Bortles media praise is nothing more than what they've seen this preseason.  Big difference.

The point is that people see what they want to see. If it's about the other guy, well it's hype and "that's what they do". But if it's Bortles we lap up every word of it as gospel.

Many of this fan base are so overly sensitive about Luck and seem to be begging for any positive feedback about Bottles.

It's all noise. It's all opinion. Of course it's "what they do", like that's some great insight. The Luck praise, the Bortles praise - just noise surrounding the games.

And if you go to the Colts board they "lap it up" like its gospel about Luck.  So what...that makes everyone on their board experts and everyone on our board homers?

No - it makes no one experts, only fans.

Why would any one spend any energy worrying about someone's opinion about any player?

LOL. Why would anyone post 2100 times on a MB that is 90% "someone's opinion on a player"  if they felt that way?

I hope you don't really think that is a good idea. Second half would make more sense because then we will have seen proof Chad Henne can't get the job done and it is all his fault we are not scoring. I actually agree with the decision to wait until the second season barring injury because that plan worked for other quarterbacks on various teams.
