Bortles showed me enough raw/natural talent in preseason that I'm confident he would have made more plays today than Henne. His ability to avoid the first wave of pressure and extend plays could have masked some of our oline's deficiency. Would that have been enough to win? I don't know, but I think answering one of the eagles 2nd half TD drives with one of our own would have kept momentum from fully swinging their way.

Problem is, now we're stuck with Fisch for a while.  We don't want Bortles to have to learn another new system next year.

 

This indeed is the thing that worries me the most.  Bortles could very well hide the weaknesses of Fisch...  But that doesn't change the fact that we may have an inferior OC that could potentially hold this offense back from true greatness...

I think anderson could hold onto a second half 17 point lead, yeah. I think a lot of players could.


The defense is gonna take a ton of heat. But you cant expect to win a game in today's nfl with only 17 points. The offense did the defense no favors.


Anderson also had a prolific, pro bowl season. In cleveland of all places. Henne hasnt had anything close.

Let's not forget Henne also had to pretty good TD drives and throws...  

 

It's obvious that Henne isn't starting material.  But man, that play calling is bad.  And the player packages was even worse.  For instance, they say D-Rob is the #2 and then only give him the ball, what, 3 times?  Seriously? Especially when he was looking like he was the only one that could find a hole to run through?

 

Yes, Henne has some fault.  But there's no way that Fisch deserves a pass.  His fingerprints are on this game as well.

Henne actually played great for about a qtr and a half, I don't think BB's could have played any better than Henne did in that time.

Back Henne? I back Gus and Dave's experience and judgement when they say that he's the best starter. It's really hard to say that we would have won the game had Bortles played, the defense was just giving up to many big plays.

How about the offense wasn't making any plays...zero points scored in the second half, means the offense wasn't doing their job...Blame it on whoever, but that is the end result...I really don't think it was only one person's fault

Also Henne needed to finish off some of those first half drives with td's and not field goal attempts when we had some great field position.


start Bortles. He can lose us a game 34-17 just like Henne. Or heck... Maybe he can hang on to a 17-0 lead.


I remember watching espns "Hey rookie welcome to the NFl" and someone said to Bortles "Man I've never seen someone turn it on like you when the lights come on"


That's the QB I want.

What about his personel decisions?  Why not use Denard more?

 

As for the play calling why did he get so conservative so early in the game?  Why didn't he continue to pressure the D and dictate to them?

 

These are all questions that concern me.

 

Also, and I've said this before...  A superior QB can mask the ineptitude of a lack luster OC.  This very well could occur when Bortles takes over.  But it still doesn't change some blaring questions that have been around since last year in regards to Fische and how he game plans, calls plays, and makes adjustments during games....

Look, how many games is it going to take, with this organization and others, for Henne to demonstrate that he's just a below-average QB ? Not only that, but he has proven that when the pressure is on, he folds like a cheap umbrella. Why is it, then, that the offense seems to suddenly come to life when Bortles comes in the game? Do they sense that there's hope, where none existed before? Henne has his minutes of exceptionally good performance. But it always seems like it's just a matter of time until the pressure of success causes him to suddenly start failing. "Grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory", as the saying goes.

I could literally feel the change in momentum after the second half kickoff. We were ahead 17-0, but it felt as though we were hanging on by our fingernails. The team needed a leader at that point, a leader who refused to give in to the pressure of leading an opponent by 17 points who was a double-digit favorite. We didn't have such a leader, and the morale of the team evaporated quickly.

Henne has proven that he's incapable of leading. Let's give Bortles that chance.
