Impressions from the Eagles Game

Quote:Is Allen Robinson role on offense just to catch 1 yard screen passes around the hash marks and hope he gets YAC?  That's all I saw that was run for him.  Our coaches are dumb.

Yeah, I was surprised they didn't try any deeper patterns which enable him to use his strengths.

Yeah, Let's see some vertical stuff from the other WRs like the one's Hurns was running.  Is Hurns the only receiver allowed to run vertical routs by the coaches rules. Come on man.

McCoy schooling and breaking Telvin Smith ankles was Jordaneque.  Smith got posturized.

he had a rough game.

Poz, our "slow" LB was the only one who could tackle him.

it might be wishful thinking but i can't help but think if poz had been in the game, the sproles td would not have happened, the jags would have been set up and they would have got the first but not the huge td

the drive would have peetered out or taken time meaning the crowd would not have got as fired up

once the eagles got momentum it felt like when not if

Considering he missed all but one day of training camp with that hamstring, to say nothing about the preseason games, I wonder just how prepared he was to play yesterday.

I wonder how much better he would be if he had been going up against DBs all this time...had he been getting coaching from Sullivan all this time.  Heck, his conditioning may have even been a factor yesterday.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

We are who we thought we were: a team a year away.

That being said, 14 of their points were a direct result of bone-headed mistakes by two backup players who wouldn't have been in there usually, one being Thomas (mlb in for injured Poz) not getting the play correct on the 43 yd run by Sproles and the other was third-stringer Prosinksi failing to be anywhere near where he was supposed to be on that long td pass we gave up. Toss in a missed field and another one blocked and you see the results.

Henne was Henne. No surprise there. Losing Cyprien was a huge blow to our D. But the D played great for the most part, especially the front seven, which bodes well for our future.

If we play that game in wk 10, we win it. But this is what it is until Bowanko and Bortles develop.

Quote:Yes, he was dropping the passes that hit him in the hands.

The Henne trolls are simply unbelievable... yet predictable as the day is long.
2/14 on 3rd downs, zero points in the 2nd half, that's not what decent QBs do

No it's not all of his fault, but he's not helping.

The 4th and 1 reminded me of the time Belichick went for it on his own 28 against Peyton Manning and failed. Manning marched the Colts in for the game winning score and BB was skewered by fans and media.

In retrospect, it was the right call. His defense was a mess and PM would've marched over them whether it was from their 28 or his own 20 after a punt. BB liked his chances of making a first down better than holding off the Colts with PM in his prime.

Gus should have punted IMO and given his defense a long field to defend (and Nick Foles isn't Peyton Manning).

Yeah but remember that one drop? That one drop was terrible. Stick with Henne.

It was the right call, and the pass wasn't a good one, but it was catchable. Marcedes got both of his eggos on it and it simply slid through.

Graham, Witten, Thomas, Davis, Pitta, Ertz, Bennett, Gronk, Olsen, all make that catch.

A. Lewis might just be too slow.

B. Your post is exactly right. Henne should have made a better throw, but Marcedes should have made that catch.

Good write up and I agree with most.

Lack of a running game and clutch mistakes in the second half cost us the most.

The lack of a running game created too many third and longs and ultimately forced the riskier 4th and 1 pass play that ultimately sealed our fate.

They forced the entire offense on Henne having to make plays with mostly rookie receivers and the eagles ultimately got the expected result

yeah I think he just needs more time to get that passing game in sinc

I think that the Eagles' speed-up offense is designed to catch defenses off guard, and to create mistakes. That strategy worked yesterday, especially against a young, inexperienced defensive backfield. As they say in our war against terrorism, we have to be right 100% of the time.......they only have to be right once in a while.

The play reminded me of Brady's less than perfect pass to Welker on 4th down in the Super Bowl. Welker, like Lewis, should have caught the pass. But, if the best QB can sometimes throw an errant pass...
